Can't the tournament start in feb? I'd like some training first and the game still needs to come out here (eu release: 29th).

The actual matches are nearly lag free, but the matchmaking takes forever.

100% correct - the matches are actually pretty good - I did get some (possibly in very distant areas) at about 2am NZ time which were unplayable, but most have been rather nice... just unlocking characters now...
