Topic: Super Smash Bros. on the VC - Plays faster?

I've noticed that with the old N64 cartridge playing Super Smash Bros. there is a little bit of slowdown (not enough to impede gameplay though) when playing with 4 players and when it's whittled down to 3 then 2 the gameplay gets slightly faster. On the Virtual Console I haven't had this problem, which is great because it's almost like playing the game fresh again. Kinda noticed it with Mario Kart 64 too. Am I just hallucinating or has anyone else noticed this?

I don't have a cartridge to compare, unfortunately. But I know MK64 still has some slowdown and sound issues that existed in the original release (which I still have).

I noticed no slowdown in Super Smash brothers 64 and Mario Kart 64. My brother has the old carts so we compared them and no slowdown in vc.

@Ezekiel: Play MK64 in.. I think it's 2P/3P Battle mode on a stage like Double Deck (or even Block Fort for that matter) - that's one instance. Also, some of the audio for the multiplayer races is missing when playing with another person. One last thing: Moo Moo Farm doesn't have slowdown... it's been sped up.

Try playing Skyscraper on the VC....Now THAT'S sped up

The cool thing about SSB feeling faster is it feels closer to Melee. Having a hard time getting back into Brawl after replaying the first two.

I remember the original, it was fun.

But other than the sound effects, there's not much to go back to in the N64 one when you have Brawl more easily available.

$10 VS $50. Brawl is more easily available? Lol.
