Since its about a month away from the relese (here in North America) I thought this was a good time to start this thread. I've been hyped about this game since E3 in '09, and clearly I am not the only one. We have plenty of ideas of what this game is going to be like, but there's always more to know. Spoilers are alowd. Please alert us if you have a spoiler. Shigeru Miyamoto noted that "Really what we ended up with is more than 90% of what you'll see in Galaxy 2 is brand new. I'd say closer to 95, maybe even 99%.

I haven't been this excited for a game since...well, Mega Man 10 I have to admit, I'm much more hyped for this than I was for the Original...I think it's because this one has more of a Mario feel to it, that annoying Starbit reticule shooter(which 'was' unique and cool in the beginning) which made killing enemies and collecting starbits way too easy and defeated the purpose(in ways) by actually jumping on enemies traditional mario style is gone, there's no time wasting wandering Hub world and instead goes more traditional with a SMB Map , Yoshi's in it!, based on the 2 new Power ups I'm in love with Cloud Mario, and the new footage looks fantastic.
There's also less Story which I'm kind of happy about...even though it's the same typical save the Princess stuff. Miyamoto said Galaxy 2 will be more challenging, hopefully it is....Because while the original definitly had it's challenging moments when collecting Silver Stars, Purple coins ect ect, the Bosses were laughably easy which was a big dissapointment for me. That's one thing Nintendo really needs to work on, is their Bosses....They need to amp up the challenge! Make it 'Mega Man' hard
^ Agreed. I would really like to see a giant Bowser boss in this game. Plus I really disliked how you couldn't collect 119 stars before challenging the final Bowser, it made the game less climatic.
Other than that, I am extremely excited about this game, and I'm buying it on the first day!
I am so excited for this release, that I am saving a little money here and there for my pre-order so it's paid off by release day. Will be showing up at Gamestop promptly that Sunday morning to pick up my copy. My girlfriend and I did the same thing with NSMB Wii, and it was a blast to spend all Sunday playing. Can't wait to relive that fun!

I'm not that excited, I never am with Mario games, but I ALWAYS end up getting them at some point. I didn't even want NSMBWii because it looked so much like a cash in. I was DEAD wrong.

I was hugely disappointed with NSMB Wii, felt like a £40 WiiWare game... Looking forward to Galaxy 2... a LOT! I shall be preordering it as soon as I have the money.
Does anyone plan to take advantage of the walmart or amazon deals where you order the game online and get $20 of online credit? Amazon restricts that the $20 must be used for video games, but I believe walmart allows you to buy anything... I guess you would have to be willing to wait a week or so to get the game though....

My mom is tempting me to take one of these deals, but I really want it the day it comes out. I just got 120 dollars in cash for my BDay, so I dont need the $20 dollar bonus. Its weird because I dont want the stores to run out before I get one, but I dont want to wait. I'm gonna wait a little into may to see if my Super Target offers any reservations.

I'm with you about NSMBW, I dont get why everyone says its so bad. Its even better then I expected. Now about being better, I don't know if it can top the first one. I really wish that there was somemore story on there. I don't know about some of the new improvements like the checkpoint and the new way to get to galaxies. I'm happy theres gonna be more content and challenges though. I hope they dont bring the blowing up the trash though. That was AWFUL.

I'm buying the Amazon deal, but it will be a long time until I'll be able to play this game... it will break some sales records so I don't think it needs hype lol... it's basically in the top 3 best selling videogames on Amazon for a while now (as preorder) - uncanny. If it's really low on story though, it'll be an instant disappointment for me - I loved the story of SMG.

I'm getting this instead of Alan Wake. I've been hyping that game like crazy, but I need a platformer. I'll get Alan Wake in a month or two when the price goes down a bit.
Anyway, I can't wait. But can someone tell me, is the release date the 23rd or 24th? If it's the 23rd, I can get it release day!

I can't believe how close the release is...the wait for it wasn't as excruciating as I thought it would be. Anyways, if anybody is interested Gamestop is doing a decent deal at the moment. Trade in two eligible Wii, PS3, or 360 games and get Galaxy 2 for $10. I already put down $5 on the game months ago, so I am gonna trade in Assassins Creed II (beat it yesterday and "meh") and probably Lego Star Wars, so I shouldn't have to pay another dime for the game since I have other games I am trading in. My eyes are gonna be so strained on May 23rd for looking at the tv screen for so long, because I know I wont be able to put the Wiimote down!

THIS GAME WILL RULE. Now that's out of the way, the most awesome thing that could happen to this game would be if you could play all the original Galaxy levels in the game with yoshi.
