I've gotten Sonic Colors back from the library to continue fighting the loose jumping controls, excessive bottomless pits, and horrible level designs to complete the game, but I've gotten stuck. How do I get escape the miniboss in Aquarium Park Act 4?
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
You can get escape the miniboss by playing a Sony game.
Sonic Colors is a Nintendo exclusive, and even if it wasn't, I certainly don't want to start the game all over again <shiver>. It was bad enough getting to this point the first time.
(Yes, I know that wasn't a serious response, but I prefer to have some fun being annoying when someone's being a jerk on the Internet rather than resort to more primitive methods like name-calling.

You can escape the mini boss under two means...the first is by speed boosting which the enemy will attempt to attack you from a far with lazers. This attack is very predictable, so you should have no trouble dodging them. The other method is a bit more difficult and is only recommended only as a last resort when your out of speed boosts. You have to jump with good timing to avoid its arm. I also recommend practicing with this mini boss because you will have to outrun it again later on.

I am at that later point. Why would I have trouble outrunning it at the very beginning of the level? I tried just speed boosting. I run out way too soon allowing it to keep clobbering me with its fists (what lasers?). I tried jumping over its attack once, but it still hit me. I guess I have to keep trying to get the jump timing right when I can get the game back from the library (I have to return it today).

I have sonic colors and i think the level design is great.
More bottomless pits than any other Sonic game ever made (which is really saying something). Often using a single power-up as a gimmick for extremely frustrating platforming sequences. Extensive underwater, underground, gravity-switching, and other kinds of sections that either make the loose controls even worse or create new methods to instantly kill you (or both). What great level design are you talking about?

Sonic Heroes, Sonic Unleashed and Sonic 06 have way more bottomless pits. Most of the time if you miss a jump you just fall to a lower level unlike those games which kill you outright.
To beat anything in this game you just need to learn timing. Boost at the right time and he'll always miss you.
“A thing may be too sad to be believed or too wicked to be believed or too good to be believed; but it cannot be too absurd to be believed in this planet of frogs and elephants, of crocodiles and cuttle-fish.”

Honestly I never noticed that many bottomless pits. The 3D controls are HORRIBLE , sonic feels so stiff. I agree with much of what you say, except the gravity switching.

I haven't played much of Heroes or '06, but Colors has a lot more bottomless pits than Unleashed, and most of the time it is a bottomless pit and not a lower level when you miss a jump in Colors (which is often with the loose jumping controls, especially on the double-jump).
Like I said, you run out of boosts long before you escape that section.

Other than the usual complaints I have about Unleashed-style 3D Sonic compared to Adventure-style 3D Sonic (too much of a race, obstacles approach too quickly, too hard to backtrack, boosting instead of a spin dash, timing too strict on the side-dash segments), the only problem I had with the 3D sections is the tendency for them to place the enemies so that you run right into the next group right after your boost ends from the previous group (sliding works much more effectively against them). I have much more trouble with the controls in the 2D segments.

You do not outrun it at the beginning of the level, that is just a teaser of what's coming. I never brought that moment up...you are clearly misinterpreting my post.. The crabot thing shoots lazers from the back of its shell if you are too far to reach with its fists. Also, if you are really that interested in the game...buy it, don't advantage of your library.

Have you been reading the rest of my posts? The game sucks. I'm only interested in beating the story before I say goodbye forever, and the library works very well as a basic equivalent of a free rental that you just have to wait a few months for to get to the top of the reserve queue.
