Wii got me back into playing games...

Change that to Wii kept me in the gaming community for one more generation and you've got me.

After Gamecube, I was going to be done with games. I just felt like the games were beginning to focus more on the cinematic portions of the game instead of the actual game part during that era during the end. It really started to look like that when the 360 first came out and we started seeing more footage of PS3 games that were being teased.

When I saw Wii for the first time, I was more than blown away. When the controller was revealed at TGS, even though some people were confused about what the controller was suppose to be, I could do nothing but imagine what kinds of games could be made with this thing! Thankfully, the games made for Wii were the kinds of games I was hoping for!

Little games like Elebits were great fun to pop in and play (which is exactly what I want from a game), but if I did want a game that was slower paced, I had games like Trauma Center: Second Opinion to turn to. Sadly, I got a little bored of Twilight Princess and Red Steel, but Super Mario Galaxy more than made up for that!

Then the casual revolution came and, unlike some, I was very happy with this. For me, it meant more games to my liking. To this day, I still pop in Mario Kart Wii! The Wii ___ series is one of my all time most fun game franchises to play around with. I had a blast with family and friends with Just Dance and Michael Jackson: The Experience. I still take part in contests in Check Mii Out and Everybody Votes Channel! Rhythm Heaven Fever was the most fun I've had with games in ages! I loved how relaxing Endless Ocean was and I loved that I could play my own music in it. Excite Truck was another pop-in-and-play game for me to just play and enjoy!

Wii felt more like a console for people who played games to pass the time and do something else after a few hours. This is the kind of gamer I have realized I actually am. So, for me, Wii is probably among the best consoles I've ever had (the best is still N64 for me, but hey). I can play the long 40 hour games, but unless I find it super unique (like Wind Waker at the time), I'm not going to enjoy it. This has always struck me whenever I see YouTube videos of the best Skyrim videos and talks about how much fun the Dark Souls games are and Dragon Age games. I just cannot get into these kinds of games . To me, they not only look boring, but when I try to look past the looks and give it a go, I find myself bored very quickly.

Wii may not have been a big hit among the people online, but to this day I still turn on the Wii to play it. If Wii U doesn't wow me like Wii did, I, honestly, believe Wii will be my final console. But I tell you what, even if Wii is my last console, I still have so many games I could get for cheap soon on it in the next few years .

It was great. The system was far from perfect, but there's plenty of memories with this thing. Haven't played any Wii games at all lately (with the exception of Skyward Sword on a borrowed system a few months ago) because my Wii stopped reading discs this time last year. But the 4 and a half years were awesome. Not too mad about it busting on me though, since I am getting a PS3 this summer (which I have wanted for a while) and Wii U later this year. Good times ahead.
