I dont think VC will appear on the new machine.

I think they should do Game Boy/GBC/GBA VC before even considering Gamecube games to download. It would be nice to have GC games to download but there aren't too many I will download since I bought most of the games that I'm interested in on that system.

I think it would not be fast enough yet. I'd like to see them keeping the backwards compatibility with both Wii and GameCube discs though.

I wouldn't really care. I'd like it better if they put the Saturn and Dreamcast on VC.

How can you not find GC games? GameStop has a large supply of them.

Yes they do, but it’s slowly getting smaller and smaller. It’s also hard to find a specific game you want without going to multiple of Gamestops because of the shrinking supply of Gamecube games. Also, Gamestop will eventually stop selling Gamecube games like they do every other gen of consoles/handhelds.

There's also the issue of price. I have yet to get Fire Emblem for the Gamecube because every online auction for it breaches the £30 mark and I have tough time justifying that for a Gamecube game; even when I have been prepared to pay that price someone else takes it higher! I think in North America it's a lot cheaper than here in PAL-land for some reason...

I'm pretty sure the next console will be compatible with Wii games and, if they're going to do Wii games they'll also make it compatible with GameCube since they're essentially the same hardware.

Oh yeah you're right. I got lucky. Last July I found it at Walmart for $15. The Castlevania Double Pack for the GBA seems to go for a high price as well, and I found it at Gamestop for around $10.

I love it when that happens.

If the next system has a hard drive, I could see them putting GCN games up. Especially since 1.5 GB or less shouldn't take THAT long to download. (Compare this to the 6 GB downloads for Games on Demand on the 360)

i doubt it. Nintendo tend to phase out backwards compatibility. See how the DS phased out the GBA's compatibility with the GB? And how the DSi phased out compatibility with the GBA? Although in both their cases, they were both handhelds, not consoles. Even so, I'd still think they would phase out the Gamecube for their next console.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
