Topic: Should the Wii2's Virtual Console support Gamecube games?

Lets assume that all games released on the original Wii's Shop Channel are ported to the next console which allows larger games but the console does not feature backwards compatibility with the Gamecube. Should the Gamecube be added? And if so, how many points for a standard Gamecube game? 1500 seeing as how the N64 is 1000?

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I like the idea, but practically it would take forever with my broadband as it is now, so depends on what speeds they have a few years from now.

I'd be more happy if it allowed Dreamcast games.

^ This. I wouldn't mind GameCube games, though.

I'd love Gamecube games to hit a Wii2 VC. I regret selling some of my Gamecube games. I think 1500 points would be fair as long as the next console is not another three years down the line. If that were the case I'd rather pay 1200..

I think it would be nice, but the price would probably be around 1500-2000 points or more (if Wii2 even uses a points system). Also, the Wii2 would need GC controller support or allow GC games to be played with a classic controller or CC Pro.

Infernape1000

I heard PS3 is getting PS2 games on the PSN. So I think Wii 2 could support Gamecube games.

Well, there is Metroid Prime Trilogy.... although one of those was designed for the Wii anyway.

Can the Wii2 make Toast.

What!?.... don't you like Toast

Depends on disc size, really. It would be nice, and GC games are hard to find used anymore.

Dear Sega and Nintendo: a Sonichu game would totally rock, make it happen!

The only downside is the size of the games

Why download GC games when you can already play them through your Wii?

Uhm, re-read the original post dude. He's talking about the Wii's successor, assuming it doesn't have backwards compatibility with the Gamecube.

Well there's no guarantee for backwards compatibility for the next system. To be honest, I doubt they would put in backwards compatibility (for the GC) anyway unless it was on the VC

I think they should, but I also think they should drop all the prices for VC when that happens (we're another generation ahead after all). Maybe 200-400 for an NES game 500-600 for an SNES game, 800 for an N64 game and 1000-1200 for a GCN or Dreamcast game.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

VC prices are a bit high. $5 for an NES game. There have been sales on Steam games like Bioshock for around that much. I hardly think Ice Climbers is of the same value. It'd be more realistic if they started with NES at $1 like games in Apple's store (not that I really want to draw that comparison, but Nintendo has shown increasing attention to what Apple's doing), if not a price dependent on title rather than system, but I doubt either would happen.

Kind of pointless to guess at GC support when we know nothing of if or when a Wii 2 would come, or what would become of the VC if and when Wii 2 should arrive. If it's truly "Wii 2," and not just another new system, it may well remain backwards compatible.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say.

If they re-jig the pricing structure I'd be all for it. Even if the system was backwards compatible, I'd prefer the convenience of using Wii controls and doing away with memory cards. I really wish that had already been the case as it really puts me off buying Gamecube games.

If Nintendo released a new iteration of the Wavebird with a less gigantic dongle to plug into the top that would be a big plus in my book.

I dont think VC will appear on the new machine.

I think they should do Game Boy/GBC/GBA VC before even considering Gamecube games to download. It would be nice to have GC games to download but there aren't too many I will download since I bought most of the games that I'm interested in on that system.
