Since we are still at the start of the 8th gen, games are really low prices used. My GC collection expanded to 40+ during this time in the Wii's life, and it seems the same is happening with my Wii collection.

If you haven't, I encourage you go to your local game store and check used prices.

You really are cheap.

Gaming a generation behind is always much cheaper as long as you don't mind waiting a few years. Enjoy!

Ooooh.... I was hoping this was going to be a thread about the new squash game

As it happens I've been milking ebay for loads of Wii games over the last 12 months - I hope you're not driving prices up.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

I've never owned a Wii, but after I bought a Wii U last year I now own more than twice the amount of Wii games than I do Wii U ones.
The problem is though, that means I now already have quite a Wii and Wii U backlog.

This is fine, as long as you don't mind always having a giant backlog, which would drive me crazy.

I've never been "done" with a console. I still regularly buy and play GC games when I can. I popped in Mario 64 a few months ago, and I just bought a new DS game recently.

I think the idea of just sticking with a new console is kind of ridiculous. Staying behind gives you a lot more available to play and doesn't force you to pay 60 dollars for every single game (which if you play a lot of games, can become unaffordable really quickly)

That's not to say I'll never pay full price for a new game. I did so with Twilight Princess, Brawl, and Spider-man 3 (big mistake), all games I was really hyped for.

I'm glad you have hundreds or thousands of dollars to spend a year. I personally do not.

I remember trying to log in to the original Command and Conquer servers a year or two back and feeling like I was knocking on the boarded-up gates of a ghost town.

Personally, I'm "done" with the Wii in the sense that I can't stand the wiimote as a control method. I never owned a Wii (although I did play it a lot at friends' houses), so I decided to start going through that backlog when I got my Wii U. I bought two games initially: Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy. Loved them both, and yet they're sitting unfinished in my game rack. The same happened with Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Prime Trilogy, both games I bought on the Wii U e-Shop earlier this year. I did finished two Wii games - Mega Man 9 and 10 - but I was able to play those on a classic controller.

It's just not for me, I suppose. Which is a shame, because I certainly would want to dig through the WIi's library otherwise.

I you loved Twilight Princess, why haven't you finished it? It's not one of the most motion heavy or annoying wiimote games available. The only thing about the controls I really didn't like was the lack of a second analog stick.

It's pretty motion heavy for my tastes. Every single move except for walking requires flicking the wiimote / nunchuck.

I'm reluctant to buy Wii games, because ours stopped reading dual layer discs, and as far as I know, there's no way to know which games are dual layer or not.

I'm pretty sure you can find a list somewhere in the internet. Or at least find out what the sizes of the games are (everything below 4.5 GB should be single layer). There aren't so many dual layer games actually.

@RR529

Metroid Other M
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Raving Rabbids Collection
Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love
Samurai Warriors 3
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Last Story
Xenoblade Chronicles

These are the games you want to avoid if your Wii doesn't read dual-layered discs anymore.

I'm finding many Wii games that are HIGHER in price now than around 2011-2012. I do think prices will go back down in time (in fact, it's certain), but at the moment, prices for many nice condition and sealed Wii games are high as collectors fill out their checklist.

CrazyOtto

My library has more Wii games available for rental than any other console.

It depends. Things that went out of print are awfully expensive now. So it does not always pay to wait so long. When I got my Wii in 2008 I wanted Wind Waker and that was truly pricy and hard to find, as was Pikmin 2. Excitetruck is a hard to find Wii game.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
