I got excited then. But it's only the SNES one. Pilotwings 64 please!

EDIT: I'll still download it sometime but not instantly, like i shall when the 64 version arrives.

The 64 version might be iffy since the developer that made the game no longer exists.

I woulld rather see the N64 version on the VC.

But the publisher does, and so does the designer. Nintendo can release their games with no problem, just like they released the Donkey Kong Country games despite Rare's involvement. The game was made under contract. It's not like Pilot Wings was their original idea.

I would assume there would be no problem with the PW64, but I am no legal expert.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

People actually prefer the N64 version?? That's so surprising to me; in all these years, this is really the first time I've heard anyone praise the N64 version, while the SNES game has long been something for which all my gaming friends share unanimous high regard. Bizarre. I found the N64 version to be disappointing, and that's pretty much the reason I never expected or wanted them to make another entry in the series after that; the magic of the SNES version was just lost, if you ask me.

But I'm curious to hear what others think about the relative qualities of the two games.

This could mean a North American release will just just around the corner.....maybe in September, where we expect Super Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back should be released around that time as well.

I need my puppet princess.

Actually it doesn't mean that at all. NOA will release Pilotwings whenever they feel like it and if the still yet to be released in the states Smash Bros tells us anything, it'll be at least a couple of months, probably even longer. I'm just holding hope that maybe, just MAYBE NOA will see how unfair they've been treating us in terms of first party VC games that they'll go ahead and give us Super Mario Kart before Europe. THEN who'll be laughing, huh? HUH? runs off crying because of the absurdity of that scenerio

Future Wii purchases:
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Metroid: Other M
Zelda Wii
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Sin and Punishment 2

I was surprised to hear that too, everyone I've ever talked to about the Pilotwings games always prefers the SNES version to the 64 version.

I'd love to finally give this game a shot. Here's hoping it's aged well, and that it comes to NA relatively soon. (As in, before the end of the console's life.)

I bought this game again about a year ago, and it was just as fun as I remembered it being when I was a kid. I was actually surprised at how well it held up.

I agree about it having aged well. I played it on an emulator about a year ago and it was just as enjoyable as ever: possibly the best use of Mode 7 in Nintendo's history.

Yeah and the crazy thing is is that I believe this game came out in the SNES's first year. I may be a little off on that, but I know it was pretty early in the SNES's life.
