first it was on the ds in 2006. it brought a great new way to play a side scroller 2d mario game.

and maybe the first of its kind to have online play!

also 100+ more stages then the DS one

It started on the NES in 1985. But i know what you mean.

Nope, no online play.

Hahahahahaha, 100+ more stages than the DS one? I bet 50$ that it isn't 100 more stages than the DS version.

Any idea if it's going to be strictly linear, or if it will have a map system like SMB3?

mrmicawber

NSMB DS was not strictly linear.......

IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?

Oh good, I am neither a gamer or hardcore. Saves me from having to be IGNorant.

Huh? NSMB had a SMB3-like map!

@Ricardo91 This is going to have flying power ups, haven't you seen the propellor hats? It looks really cool.

I haven't played NSMB for the DS, is this basically an enhanced port of that?

A Fool and his Wii Points are easily parted.

mrmicawber

An enhanced port - no.

Back in the day DS NSMB was supposed to have 2 player simu-play through the whole game - aopparently they could not make it happen on DS cause they stuck in a little 2 playersimu mode outside of the main game with 6 stages I think,

So like NSMB Wii is a brand new game in the spirit of NSMB DS with the addition of 4 player simu, and Yoshi, and all new levels....

Like MetalMario said, the game won't have online play because the Wii is not powerful enough to handle it.

The first of its kind to have 4-player co-op and online is, I believe, a distinction belonging to LittleBigPlanet.

Nintendo are liers-_-
I reckon the game can go online(it looks like a bloody ds game...how much memory is it taking up on the disc?...COME ON!!)
they can use Dual-layer discs which can go up to 6GB!!!
This game can go online....but we all know Nintendo won't do it.

Anyway considering i own ONE Wiimote, the co-op feauture is absoututly pointless for me. ill buy the game for one player atleast.

No, I didn't say that, and it doesn't have memory issues, I assure you. Miyamoto said that playing online takes the fun of playing with your friends and family in one setting, I believe.

Well some people like myself like Online games and some people live on their own and have no friends so maybe Nintendo need to start considering online for some games they make.
or is it all aimed on casual families?....yeah.....why even make Nintnedo Wifi.....seriously why nintendo.

I wouldn't want Wi-Fi for this game, anyway. I don't really think it's necessary.

Thats your opinion.
Online is something i consider very fun.
Although i do like a local option aswell if they include online.

Actually I believe dual layer discs are 9 GB. Because a standard one is 4.5 GB.

Not the fact they can't, just they don't want to. I guess online would be okay, especially with a battle mode like in NSMB with the star collecting. That would be fun.

I don't think memory is the problem they're talking about, it's the process power of the Wii. I think.

@MetalMario, I was acknowledging that you already said that it wouldn't have online. I'm saying that the Wii is not powerful enough, and that's why there is no online, because that's what Ninty said.

It isn't a matter of storage space on the disc. It's a matter of... actually, I'm not really sure, but it's not a matter of storage space on the disc. It has to do with their servers and communication and wires and snails and puppy dogs' tails.

I'd trust Ninty to know their console better than anyone else - what it is and what it isn't capable of doing.

When you think of it, 4 players on screen during a 2-D platformer is pretty resource consuming. You can't, absolutely cannot, let the frame-rate drop! And picture all those toads, mario, and luigi jumping around lol
This is one of my most anticipated Wii games, does any one know if it supports controls other than Wii-mote, I don't have four.
