Topic: Monster Hunter Tri. Why only "Wyverns?"

Why are there so few "insect" and "mammal" bosses?

They said they'd be providing online content over time, does this mean we could see New monsters in the future?

I`m not sure there are a lot of wyverns. I`d LOVE to see like a giant arthropod/arachnid.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, would you kindly?

Raptor78

as the online content is server based then i cant see why the couldnt store new skins and AI for new monsters. Personally I find the bugs (insects) in the game annoying which I spose thats the point of them, but it would be intersesting fighting a giant bug.

Because anything else and we'd hear no end of complaints from PETA. ):<

Also wyverns are clearly a staple of the series. They're iconic of Monster Hunter and I can't imagine they'd change that for the preference of one picky person. And frankly, their definition of "wyvern" is so loose that they could say any enemy is one. Just look at Gigginox (a floppy leech thingo), Qurupeco (a giant bird) and Jhen Mohran (a whale for crying out loud).

So there's no lack of variety... I don't see what you're complaining about.

Wow. Relax. Who's complaining? My original post was 2 lines!, 1 of which was a question!

Since you're accusing me of being picky anyway, I might as well point out that I already addressed giggi, jhen, and quru when I pointed out the fact that there are "few 'insect' and mammal' bosses;" and in pointing that out, I acknowledge the fact that the term "wyvern" is loosely held.

And while we're actually picky, you said "I can't imagine they'd change that for the preference of one picky person." Well, luckily there are at least 2 other people who agreed that it would be great to see more. Bet I could find more where those came from.

I guess some people just don't want others sharing thoughts that don't exactly coincide with their own.

EDIT: I just realized Jhen seems more like an Alligator or Crocodile than a whale.

Only Wyverns?! o.0 Wyverns are awesome! I'd rather be battling them than more conventional beasties. Graaargh!

AWESOME! People who still use Horde Logic.

I guess it doesn't matter that the series was never that big in north america, and that we might not be as as complacent with everything in this apparently perfectly built game.

I need to stop taking these responses so seriously.

EDIT: @machu So if Capcom were to come to you today and say..."We have a surprise for you. More bosses to include the insectoid and mammalian families of Monster hunter," you would say...No? Or would you be like...awesome, more variety.

Mostly, I was just wondering what the possibility of additions would be, and staying hopeful for more content in the future.

Actually your post (thread title in particular) came across as "wondering why there are only wyverns", not "wondering what else there could be". There's a subtle difference which changes people's response to your post - either "this person will never be satisfied" (only wyverns grumble grumble) or "I'd love to think of other enemies they could put in too" (wouldn't it be cool if).

To answer your second question (the first being "why only wyverns?" (which I answered in my last post (which you misunderstood for a personal attack))), you shouldn't get your hopes up about new monsters any time soon. As you probably know, Nintendo loathes downloadable content and updates. Maybe if Capcom releases an expansion pack we'll see more though!

Or Nintendo could like, be awesome and stop with its no-DLC policy already.

BTW seems like you missed my attempt at keeping it light-hearted with a tongue-in-cheek PETA reference, but oh well. ("Harpoons? You kill a WHALE? RED ALERT, MAN ALL STATIONS")

I wonder how big a file would be for your run-of-the-mill "new monster" or even "new zone."

as far as "BTW seems like you missed my attempt at keeping it light-hearted with a tongue-in-cheek PETA reference, but oh well." Guess that means I need to relax myself. Kinda figured that might have been the case. As I realized at some point. I really need to take some of these things less seriously.

Edit: By the way, very few people go through as thorough a piece-for-piece rebuttal as you would, especially online. I appreciate that. Cheers.

Nintendo isn't anti-DLC and it's certainly possible to have DLC but I'd still say don't get your hopes up because it's likely the type of thing Capcom will save for Monster Hunter 3G.

Of course I'd be happy, but I doubt it will ever happen.

I'm not entirely sure how it works, but If Capcom were to theoretically provide new monsters to fight against, it'd have to be stored locally as well - i.e on your Wii console.

DLC would have been nice in that respect, but I wouldn't have thought it was even possible as it currently stands.

I wouldn't mind if there was a Monster Hunter 3G, as long as they have give us at least a year or two with MH3 first, and there was enough new content to warrant the upgrade. Also we'd better be able to import our characters from MH3 or I'll be mad.

How many hours have you put in on this one so far?

MH3 Napoxy 7938UL

About 114 hours. I wouldn't want to lose my character after all the time and effort I've put in.

I never really bothered checking to see how many hours I've put in...most likely a lot though. You know what would be awesome though, that the next Monster Hunter could have a monster creator.
Never really knew that wyverns were like a staple in MH games, but yeah...wish they'd at least even them out a bit...too many "monsters on red bull". (not that they're bad monsters....except Diablos. >_>)
