The fourth map clearly indicates which hole is the final one (in fact there are fences placed to prevent you from accessing them in any other order, it's possible to glitch past them by building a burrow on the edge of the high terrain the final hole is on though) but you get the ending after entering it to capture it, not when you link to it. The game should save when it shows the outro though, I clearly got to keep my gamestate from then.
I have to score down Lead the Meerkats from 5/10 to 0/10.
I've tried everything to beat the game but it just won't save anymore. I always begin at the start of part 3, that was the last time the game saved properly. I played to part 4 and saved, nothing, I had to restart from part 3. I played to part 4 and saved and exit, nothing, I had to restart from part 3. Then I tried to beat the whole game without saving, game froze, I had to restart from part 3. I tried it again, was almost finished, game froze, had to restart from part 3.
I could restart from scratch and hope that it will save properly next time, but why should I? I bought this game for 1000pts, so as long as there's no update coming that fixes the save disabling glitch and fixes the freezing this game deserves a 0/10.
