Okay, let me start off by saying that I've only played the Klonoa on the Wii because I never knew about the original. I haven't gotten to the second one yet, so this theory is based off of the first game in the series.

I read a blog from the NB group on IGN when they talked about the new design for Klonoa (which they threw out when the outcry came). In this blog it was stated that many people were wondering what Klonoa is. They said that he was whatever you wanted him to be because he was supposed to be the player. Klonoa is "you." If you want him to be a cat, then he's a cat. If you want him to be a dog, then he's a dog.

I thought, "That's neat," but I really didn't think about it beyond that, because many games put "you" into the shoes of the character that you're playing as. But when I beat the game and watched the ending, Hewpoe states that Klonoa is nothing but a "strange dream" in this Phantomile and now he has to go back to his own. Does that mean that Klonoa actually IS "you" the player? Is the whole game supposed to be some "dream" that you're having and then you have to go back to the real world at the end?

I may have this completely wrong. This is my first Klonoa game ever (loved it), so I don't know the storyline for any of the others (and I refuse to look them up because I will eventually play them and I don't want the plot ruined for me), but I was just wondering what anyone else thinks about this.

He is a dream traveller. In each game he goes to a dream that in turn, is a world with some sort of trouble and he has to fix it. Does it not explain that in Klonoa? I get one and two mixed up...

But that is a neat idea and would explain why Klonoa's real world is never seen nor really mentioned.

Nah. The only thing that's explained in the first game is that...you have to save Lephise. And then Hewpoe tells Klonoa that he has implanted memories of their friendship and Klonoa now has to go back to his own Phantomile.
