Well I would check the EBs here but mean ole Gamestop bought them out a few years ago and converted them all to Gamestops now so I dont go to them anymore. However I was in Target last week to pick up some games with their 3 for 2 deal going and the Wii section was just as big as the Xbox and PS3 section. I also went to two different Wal-marts (Ugh I feel dirty now) and their Wii, Xbox and PS sections were all the same size.

Than again this is in California so it might be a regional thing that you are experiencing there WaltzElf

In the UK, Wii dominates dedicated game store shelf space at least 2 to 1. The console is immense there.

From the shops I go in it's really the DS that dominates which has two shelves or more just for that. Probably the closest breakdown is 2 DS, 1.5 Wii, 1.25 360, 1 PS3, 0.5 PSP, 0.5 PS2 and 0.25 PC(if they carry PC games at all).

@Mackerel I don't have to worry about annoying employees where I live. There are seven stores in my area, 4 within reasonable distance. There are two in the local mall and the other two are right across the street from each other.

It's similar to that where I live but not many shops have ps2 and pc games.

Yeah, they've shrunk a bit where I'm at. It used to be insane, with 3 times the amount of Wii games as any other system. Now that Wii mania has died out a bit the breakdown between systems is more or less even.

I know that in my local Game shop, they've more-or-less cut down the Wii shelving down to 2 shelves. One for new games, one for preowned with controllers in between. :/

But the DS section is pretty steady at 4 shelves (mainly pre-owned crap take up most of the space). PS3 and 360 with 3 shelves each.

@Oregano Yeah, that sounds about right. The proportions were changing when I left back in 2009. '08 was the high point for the console in the UK I think, but it's still doing very well.

I remember there used to be 2 or 3 entire shelves for new and used PS2 games, but they shrunk it to like half a shelf by mid-2009. And the PC games were pushed to the back of the store and had a measly half shelf or something, mostly old used games they were trying to sell off at less than £5. A sad time for all.
