It's been evident for a while that IGN, at least the Nintendo section are in love with the App store for the Iphone. And I don't blame them really... The app store is getting games that are on par with the best WiiWare and DSiWare games cheaper and faster.
I too have always been jealous at Nintendo's stupidity when it comes to online. They say it's for quality but many games for WiiWare and DSiWare are either crap, or can easily be seen on a mobile device.
If you listen to their pod casts, you even hear them saying how stupid the layout is for the shops, especially the DSiWare.
So of course there's going to be a bias. Their tastes have been set too high. To me. unless a WiiWare game is mindblowingly original like World of Goo, it's just going to get a meh from then because they've already seen it on the App store, for cheaper and at a faster rate.
I highly agree that IGN has given ridiculous reviews to both Overturn and TMNT Re-shelled. Overturn has deep outstanding gameplay, and while Arcade beat-'em-ups don't have as deep of gameplay as other genres, that somewhat simple gameplay of that genre is very fun, and TMNT:TiT is one of the best of the genre. I bet that reviewer also hates Streets of Rage 2. I wish more developers would make modern beat-'em-up games like is being done with Spyborgs.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
IGN is just stupid. They think graphics suck on Water Warfare because of their giant TVs. They think Black Knight sucks because they hate Sonic. And now they're reviewing Overturn badly just because of the lack of crowds? IGN should just get new reviewers.
I actually quite like IGN, but i have to agree that they're wiiware reviews are not very good. I'm saving my money to buy a wii points card to buy overturn, but since I haven't played it I can't exactly pass judgement. I would like to point out that the only mention of mutiplayer says "Things get a little more interesting when you take the game online for multiplayer, where you can play against three other people in a battle royale. But the gameplay is still dead simple and likely won't hold your interest for very long. Finding three other people to play against can also take a little while." I tend to think that most shooting games are rather simple, and usually go along the lines of running and shooting things. not that complex. this review also came out the day after the game was released, so it's not like no one else is going to buy it after it's initial release.
EDIT: I also want to point out that IGN gave Water Warfare a 6.9, not 7.9

I was one of the first to see the score, and it was originally a 7.9/10 given by Daemon. Then Matt butted in and knocked it down to a 6.9, giving few reasons why he changed it.

I didn't get that review either. So there's no audience -- so what? The arenas are generally small to medium; not that it matters because the AI OTM tends to come for you if you try to get away and the matches are pretty frantic even one-on-one.
I love a lot of games that were poorly scored by critics, but if I were a critic I wouldn't give them high scores just because I had fun with them. Like Water Warfare: it's one of my favorite Wii games, but, as a critic, I'd score it as a 7 based on the game's overall quality.
Then you're reviewing it WRONG. You shouldn't judge the "overall quality", only the fun. The overall quality of MaBoshi was extremely high, it was a highly polished game but it just wasn't that much fun and while it got high scores many people regret buying it. What's the point of the quality except to boost the fun?
I played it, dropped it already and went back to Custom Robo...just how it is. I can't argue with the review. Same with TMNT Re-Shelled...it's a game over a decade old that is fun but hasn't held up all that well. New shiny graphics aren't going to make it a ten. On top of that, it's one persons opinion. Why care so much? If you had fun with it, so what if IGN gave it a 5.7. Move on, have fun, and don't lose sleep over it.

People didn't like Maboshi? What gives you that idea? Maybe not the greatest sample size but it has 11 user ratings on GameFAQs and 9 of them gave it a 9/10 or higher.
@apocalyspe217- What'd you do join just to say that? We don't appreciate that language here. We also don't need people being jerks to others. If you don't like what these people are doing, don't read it, ignore it, or leave if you can't deal with it in some other civilized manner.
um yeah, they have keep in mind its a wiiware game, not a full retail game! IGN gets more retarted every time! i look back here for all my reviews!
Dameon Hatfield isn't my favorite IGN reviewer...remember they have multiple reviewers and aren't unanimous.
Also, retartedretartedretartedretarted
Have you guys heard the IGN podcasts? They're not just in it for the money. They're some dedicated people, and giving negative reviews wouldn't make them get payed any better than if they didn;t.

I'm guessing he deleted that post, since I can't find it anywhere. Yes, I'm a snoop.
TMNT re-shelled C'mon you can't get any better than classic beat em ups, But a beat em up in HD, thats what i want. While it might get a low score I will buy it anyway and love every single minute. It is Nostalgia and fun in a new age now thats a game for me, not for everyone else, but i assure you this game is targeted for players like me,and this game will be successful regardless of IGN's review.
