The only problem with the dark worlds in 2 was that they all look pretty much alike, which isn't necessarily a problem with everyone.

@Chicken Brutus: It's the toughest for sure, though I gather they are weakening two of the bosses that gave people trouble, yes they were tough but do-able after a few attempts, so i'm not too happy about that. And the multiplayer might actually be fun now we'll have free aiming.

You WILL get lost in Dark Aether, mastery of the map system is essential which is the kind of challenge I enjoy. And wait till you see what the light suit does, mmmmmm.

My pre-order is placed, now I just have to wait for release 4'th september(EU) :<

Does everyone get the aluminum box with the hardbook manuals and what not? Or is that reserved for some collectors edition?

Why indeed? Because the number of quality games in gaming - on any and all systems - in any and all times, 'hardcore' or no - is and remains a very small number - and only presumption, false witness, and smug, self congratulatory politics could lead to such a foolish quote as you behold in my signature.

Viva La Revolution! - Sic Semper Tyranius!

Sic indeed.

Well, congratulatory politics aside, the only slated holiday Wii games are a port of CoD4, Arc Rise Fantasia, The Princess & the Frog, Avatar, Diabolik: Original Sin, Pop'n Music, and World of Zoo.

Comparatively, the 360 has Bioshock 2, Dragon Age: Origins, CoD: Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed II, L4D 2, The Saboteur, Edge of Twilight, and Scourge.

Sooo... even thought the number of quality games is small (as you said), the number of quality holiday Wii games is still relatively smaller than the number of quality holiday 360 games (as IGN said.)

Well, the only game I am planning on buying for Christmas PERIOD is New Super Mario Wii - Mario used to be hardcore - back in the days of arcade, when videogames were mainstream and average everyday people went into the bar or the pizza place and popped quarters to play videogames.....

The point of my post was not rebutted by yours though - if there is so much fresh new hardcore content out there for all systems - why all the excitment at dropping $50 to play 3 already released games again - with new controls for 2 of them???

Hmmmmm - and why are Metroid fans so excited to have the motion control pointer on the GC ports? Hmmmm.

Questions for you to ponder.

IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?

@mrmi - I don't really understand your questions. I'm not saying that there's a lot of fresh new quality content for all systems. I'm only saying there is a lot more fresh new quality content on other systems.

And your point illustrates that perfectly; if there were more on Wii, people wouldn't be currently anticipating games that were already released. PS3 and 360 owners aren't.

Sure they are - many ppl are multiconsole owners and will pay $50 for MPT just as they bought the Orange Compilation Box...

Why? Because the MPTrilogy is as good or better than any of the games they can buy new on market today for any console. So if the Wii library is thin, so then is the PS3 and 360 library...... or else this game would not stand out. ....who would care?

@mrmi - uh, the only people really paying attention to this game are the kind of people who go on Nintendo forums. Casual gamers don't care and haven't heard of it, and non-Ninty fans don't care either.

They're too busy salivating over Uncharted 2, Bioshock 2, Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, L4D 2 and all those sequels to original IP games that got extremely high ratings, game of the year awards, and tons of sales.

P.S. the orange box included new IP games Team Fortress 2 and Portal, which were both highly praised and extremely popular. Getting them as part of the Orange Box was the only way to get them on PS360 then, I think.

Not entirely so - MPT is garnering attention and praise from gaming sites that are not Nintendo exclusive....

I am not saying it is the ONLY game they care about - just that it is in your general list of games of importance there.....those 5, many will add MPT and subtract a few others....MPT is definitly on the radar of the 'Mainstream Hardcore'.....

@Clickety Wow you're really multitasking the arguments today, most topics i go you're in it with someone xD

@Mrmicawber What else can i say that i havent said about you and your passion for debate lol

I have the all seeing eye here, i see many arguments and i will now state mine (DUN DUN DUN). Anyway, as ive said before im very unsure about this so i likely will not buy it since ive played all 3 before, i think maybe if they added a bonus metroid corruption multiplayer online and/or offline instead of echoes 2 multiplayer that would be a massive draw since its actually something COMPLETELY new added to the game and its modes (MP2 had multiplayer before, corruption missed out on it for some reason, if they'd added it then wow....id be sold). So matt is right in the sense that unless you're super die hard (which im not about anything) you may be dissappointed buying this in the long term since its true, you've played these all before. I really just think a new a fresh multiplayer mode (maybe even including every metroid prime weapon used in the trilogy to be available in battle) or something new to attract those who already bought these games before would have been very smart.

I just read the Metroid Prime Trilogy review. Good stuff. You guys are going to enjoy it.

Plain old gamer :)

@mrmi -

Like IGN? Because they have separate teams for each console, and the team that's writing about MPT can only write about Nintendo platforms, so they have little else to focus on.

Every site seems to think about Wii games like this: "is this a good game... for the Wii?" Whether that's a good way to judge Wii games (I don't think it is), that's how they do it, and that's why it gets put on lists and gets some attention and glowing reviews (which I also don't agree with...) Sony, PC, and MS fans and casual gamers couldn't care less. Curious to see how well this sells...

@clicketyclick: Wow, you're somewhat mobilised of late. If only IGN Wii were Nintendo only, but they also review iPhone games now, which for me was the end of the beginning of the end.

The Metroid Prime Trilogy stands out across all platforms imo, it's a masterpiece and has/will stand the test of time. Will GoW and Halo? I really don't think so, they are mindless by comparison. And who cares how it sells so long as I get MY copy. In 11 days, using the credit note I got from trading Conduit, Madworld and some other half baked titles, I'll grab it and love it all over again (three games I completed at least twice each)! At last i'll be able to get back behind the visor, instead of reminiscing and waffling about it on here.

The number one complaint I have being reading on Zelda here (review/threads) is 'been there/done that'

Not the review on this site. In fact, we even made a point of saying "much of what is great in Twilight Princess we have seen before in other Zelda games". The good parts were the old parts. It was the new stuff, especially the controls, that weren't so hot.

TP should be judged on its merits, plain and simple - how fun it is to play, the control, the atmosphere, the polish, the level design - everything that makes it a game.

Agreed.

I don't know why we're talking about Twilight Princess in here, but my problem with it was that it was way too linear.
It felt, to me, like I was just going from dungeon to dungeon trying to complete the game. It was a grind.
Playing Zelda has never felt like grinding ever before. It was a great game, no doubt, I enjoyed it very much the first/only time through.

I've played through the original Zelda probably 7 or 8 times, LTTP 7 or 8 times, OOT 7 or 8 times, MM about 5 times, and TP only once. Replay value is one aspect of LoZ games that absolutely makes the series shine. And it just wasn't there in TP.

Granted, the same can be said for the Metroid games.
I've only played through Prime once, I've only played through Prime 3 once (and loved it).
To be honest, I didn't even beat the first Prime game - I got all the weapon upgrades and needed to collect the last few relics or whatever that I needed to get to the end. That wasn't enough incentive for me to continue to put up with the clunky controls.

Personally, I can't wait to play these games with the new play control. I HATED the gamecube controls.
And I will finally play Echoes.
