David Wise only did some of DKC1 and a tiny bit of DKC3 (all he did for DKC3 really were the menus and bonus stages).
no, Wise did most of DKC1 and all of 2 and then never did anything notable again outside of Diddy Kong Racing ()
Eveline Novakovic did a good sum of the DKC1 soundtrack too, and Robin Beanland was responsible for Funky's music. Cranky's music was a collaboration of the three composers.
and holy crap it's hard. I think I remember playing it back in its day at a demo station at a Toys R Us or Wal-mart. I don't think I owned it back then but I do now. It's pretty tough. It's a great platformer though that I think still holds up well today. I noticed when I bought it that I'm not the only one inspired as it was the #3 Virtual Console game. Anyone else tempted to buy or re-play DKC or it's sequels?
DKC is a breeze compared to DKC 2. I go back every year or two to replay DKC and I find it rather easy...It's mostly a cake walk anymore. It wasn't even that hard back in the day. I couldn't beat the second one without game genie.

Well I didn't have to buy it as I already had it (bought it one day one on VC). DKC is one of the favorite SNES game. I remember playing the heck out it when it first came out in 1994, and back then my friend and I though it was bit easy, but not so much this time around and I find it harder. I am not too much a fan of the other two games, but I might end up buying sometime or other just have all three again in my collection.
I bought it on the VC a while back and though it was good.....until I got to the first mine cart level, and the first couple cave levels. After trying those I thought, "Huh, this game is really hard." Then, I stopped playing. When I heard DKC Returns was coming out, I thought, "You know what, that looks fun. Maybe I should try to beat that first game to prepare for the release of this new game." So I did. It was pretty hard, but I grew to like the simple, platforming goodness of it along with the challenges that it had to offer. And after defeating King K. Rool, I was mighty proud of myself, until I found out there were even more DKC games (from what I've heard are much harder than the original).............sigh................."maybe on another day", I said.
Outside of a few frustrating and often cheap levels, the game isn't really too hard. Though I've only made it about half way through the game, since I'm playing it on my friend's Wii.
Hopefully the second one isn't much harder since I'm actually considering downloading that one.
DKC was my first video game. Me and my brother bought it for the GBA right before a trip. We played the heck out of it! I think the game is easy but I think that's because I memorized every level(I'm not kidding)
I got DKC 3 on VC it was harder for me. Probably because every level had a different gimmick and each was very unique.

DKC was one of the first games my brothers and I got on the SNES...
I freely admit that I suck at platformers, but I never found DKC too challenging... I mean I actually finished that one (and the two sequels) I still can't finish Super Mario Brothers for comparison.
DKC might be one of the best games ever conceived by mankind. I hold it in such high regard that going to back to replay is almost like a religious experience. Rare does everything right with DKC...if the OP is just playing this for the first time, then man do I feel old.
