and holy crap it's hard. I think I remember playing it back in its day at a demo station at a Toys R Us or Wal-mart. I don't think I owned it back then but I do now. It's pretty tough. It's a great platformer though that I think still holds up well today. I noticed when I bought it that I'm not the only one inspired as it was the #3 Virtual Console game. Anyone else tempted to buy or re-play DKC or it's sequels?

I see this cool story bro thing on so many topics. Is that some internet slang for I don't give a crap?

@Waveboy I hear ya man. I'll have to get DKC2 soon as I think I enjoyed that one more back in the day also. I do agree it's cheap at times. I look forward to DKC Returns as I agree it should blow away its predecessors. @KaiserGX The mine cart was the first level I really had trouble with until I found a warp.
To anyone who think I may be trolling, that's never my intention just to make things clear.

I own Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble in original cartridge form. One of my cousins loaned them to me when he loaned me his SNES console two days prior to '09. I haven't played Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest until February of '08 on the Virtual Console. No idea how I missed out on it back when I was little. Very fun games. 2 > 1 > 3, imo
All three soundtracks, composed by David Wise, are incredible. Especially "Aquatic Ambience" from the original game and "Stickerbrush Symphony" from the second game, two of my favorite tracks in the series.
I also bought the first DKC in preparation for DKCR, and it is challenging sometimes. I was able to get to Stop And Go Station within my first play session.
The only DKC game I've played was one of the ports for the GBA, and it was terrible. So, I haven't really had a good relationship with the DKC series.

As did I. But I also got it out of nostalgia since I played it at a friend's house, too. It's an alright game, and I suck at it, but at least the levels are short. I dunno if it's really hard, I just think I haven't played a game like this in forever.
I bought Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness on my PSP since Donkey Kong Country Returns is out soon.
Or whatever.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
