I see that Enix is now Square Enix. Will they bring out the Dragon Warrior Series?

I think we might see them eventually, but only after they've finished remaking the games in the series they want to.

Plain old gamer :)

I really hope so. I loved Dragon Warrior IV the best.

There's a remake which is really good.

They can release Dragon Warrior 1-3 on the VC now that the Game Boy Color remake is no longer in stores.

And yet Harry Potter 2 is...but even that's disappearing.

I hope they release the Dragon Warrior series as well. I have only played 1 and 2, but want to play all the others.

Forgive my ignorance, but this is Dragon Quest series right?
If that's the case yes, i would gladly buy them, i never played one.

Probably, especially since they're remaking 4-6. However, I'd rather they remake them again(or re-release the other remakes), since the NES versions haven't aged very well at all, IMO.

I agree. The graphics need a make over.

I really don't mind old school graphics for an RPG (like FF 2) but where are the long RPG games for Wii? Except for virtual console RPG's.

Yeah, the earliest American releases of the series was renamed "Dragon Warrior" due to licensing issues. Presumably eventual VC releases of these games would have their name updated to Dragon Quest.

Ah, Dragon Warrior! An oldie but goodie! This was my very first experience with an RPG when I got this game for subscribing to Nintendo Power Magazine. Ever since then I have loved the Dragon Quest/Warrior series!

I could never accept Dragon Quest after spending so much time growing up with Dragon Warrior. I have Dragon Quest's 1-3 on the GBA that never get played for this very reason, and so I would gladly purchase the actual Dragon Warrior releases on VC as long as the dialoge is in Ye Olde English.

@Gabbo. I think you mean Game Boy Color, and those are called Dragon Warrior, they just have gotten rid of the Ye Olde English translations, which is a pity. I like Erdrick better than Loto.

Love the Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest series. Just finished up the DS version of DQIV; have to pick up DQV now (but am currently playing through FFIV DS before getting The After Years). I always had a greater fondness for the DQ series over the FF series, probably b/c i played Dragon Warrior first (i was one of the fortunate who got DW through that Nintendo Power deal back in the day).

For a long time, i too couldn't call it Dragon Quest after being so used to Dragon Warrior, but now i almost get confused for a split-second when i see the games referred to as Dragon Warrior.

I am way psyched for DQIX, even if it does appear to be a slight departure from the standard/classic DQ gameplay. The game looks epically awesome.

She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.

Oops, you're right. Of course, I call all of those games GBA games now.

LinktotheFuture

@Gabbo Makes sense to me, I only have a GameBoy Advance SP, so I will probably do the same. I had to look it up though to make sure that there weren't any GBA versions, since those my have been needed in my collection if they existed.

Amen brother! I remember getting the game, strategy guide and poster from Nintendo Power. My buddies and I played that game for hours on end after school. I don't think I've ever finished the original Dragon Warrior to this day.

Graphics? I was talking about the gameplay, especially in the first game. The terrible menus, where you have to use three different menu options to open a freaking chest or go up a flight of stairs, and the minimenu that always pops up everytime you stop, and always delay your movement whenever you start to move again; the slow battles against that barely give you any exp or money despite nearly killing you everytime you encounter them; dungeons that are confusing, unnavigable without a guide, with a torch that is of no help whatsoever - really tedious, aggrivating stuff that I'm surprised anyone was able to tolerate back in the day. I mean really, a lot of NES RPGs are like this, and I can totally understand why the genre didn't catch on until way later. I'm honestly glad they came out with the remakes, otherwise I'd have absolutely no respect for this series. Those games just hate players, pure and simple.
