3rd party games that are good sell on PS3/360 because of people researching Metacritic religiously. What about Wii?
Anyone who bases their decisions off of metacritic like that is going to avoid the Wii anyway because of the way reviewers like to **** on the system.
What everyone else has said about inexperienced gamers not knowing any better is certainly true too though. I think the people buying the good Wii games are that subset of experienced gamers that know enough not to give a **** about scores and to just trust their own instincts.

Not necessarily. You're right about how critics treat the Wii, but if you base your buying habits on, say 78% or higher. You'd still find yourself with top-tier content. A lot of the top sellers though, tend to rank under 60%.

Well DS:E received terrible sells (another post). So there's another quality game down the crapper. I just don't see the light at the end of the Wii tunnel for developers that don't take a crap on Wii.

Hang on, you've lost me...what does "DS:E" stand for?
Also, to answer your previous question I had previously glazed over: Nintendo's employees enjoy making casual games. At least, that's what I hear. But then, they make a point to make games that are actually fun and accessable to everybody. Other companies making cash-in casual crap probably don't enjoy the process.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
Casual games = fast food, yes, accessible for everybody, and yes, there are many people who likes fast food. And yes, I would bet that in any city in the world fast food restaurants are in proportion of 10/1 with non-fast food ones, also fast food restaurants revenues are way higher than the others. It is just that I dont like fast food ...
@y2josh: Oh, that makes sense. Well, I never played the first Dead Space, nor did I have any interest in it, so I refuse to apologize for Extraction's poor sales.

I agree with stuffgamer that Nintendo does a good job of making games fun and accessible to everyone. Even Nintendo, though, says they are learning as they go with trying to please everyone. I guess that mean 3rd parties will never learn.

According to EA's latest statement, it seems you could say that quality doesn't matter. EA game quality on Wii is debatable with only 3 games I truly enjoy (BB: Bash Party, DS:E, NFS: Nitro). They're games have improved within the last year though (kids titles and all) so I wish them luck for 2010.

i remember holiday 07 around thanksgiving me and my cousin walked to the gamestop near his house to go get ShadowRun 360 and another copy of melee. while thier i saw some guy buy carnival games over galaxy because of the first level where mario chases the bunnies. Even after the clerk told him that it was a bad idea he still got the crappier game.

Do you know what his problem was with the bunny chasing?

I do get sick of seeing all the trash that comes out on the system but to be honest there is a large number of games I love on the system. I think Nintendo should start doing better quality control and I know they said they would. But, if a game is total crap just do no let it be released. But then again I still play my old PS2 more than anything.
Ah, Nintendo fanboys. How you entertain and bewilder me.
I'm as disappointed as any by the loads of shovelware on the system, but I prefer to focus on the good rather than the bad. To me, there are plenty of good Wii games to fill my wishlist, so I'm not disappointed by the system at all. There will always be good games, and there will always be bad games. So long as I stick with the good, I'll always be happy.
This is why I primarily stick to retro-gaming via Virtual Console on the Wii and occasionally download a WiiWare game if it happens to appeal to me. I will buy 3rd party games if they're actually good. I tend to buy games from 3rd parties like Ubisoft, Capcom and Konami who actually release some quality product or at least try hard to. I think it's important we all support 3rd party releases on the Wii because, as most of us know, the N64 and Gamecube suffered pretty badly from a lack of 3rd party, nearly forcing Nintendo away from hardware production like Sega. All consoles need strong 3rd party support to be truly successful. Nintendo's 1st party games are great and all, but there simply isn't enough of them to feed the demand. The PS1 and PS2 were the monster successes they were almost entirely from 3rd party support.

PS2 is a weird beast and looking at that platform makes me sad for consoles today. Since when did we start this whole "casual games for this system, hardcore games for that system" nonsense. With the PS2, even with all the shovelware, they didn't necessariy pigeonhole what kind of gamer you were due to it's massive installed base. Where's that kind of love and attention for Wii. Heck, I'm still waiting for more games that take full advantage of what the Wii is capable of control wise that's not another minigame collection.

Yes it matters, that's why first party games outsell third party games. Nintendo makes better games. Sure, some good niche games get ignored but niche games are niche games.
