Topic: Do you think we'll get a Mario Galaxy 3?

With Nintendo claiming the Wii has 3 or more years left in it, along with the rave reviews of Mario Galaxy 2 and the strong selling power of the Mario series in general, it seems like making Galaxy 3 would be obvious.

Do you think they have enough original ideas left to make a third game in this series? Is it possible to even follow up this game?

I imagine they would make a NSMBW 2 before they made Galaxy 3, at least on this console. If the console only has three years left like you say, it would make sense for them to launch with a 3D Mario title. My guess is no, but I don't know anything.

Mario's already been turned into paper, so someone else might have to get turned into clay....hmmm....that leaves.....Waluigi, perhaps?

Even if they could, I hope they don't. Mario galaxys premise has already been stretched to breaking point by 2 games, a 3rd would just feel stale.

Perhaps they should do a WiiWare spin-off game - how about a WiiWare game based on those 2D perspective stages?

Ummm, it sold over 8 million copies, and the second one has already sold 5 million copies with the Christmas season still ahead for it to sell even more. So maybe that doesn't equal the astronomical sales of the NSMB games or (most of) the Wii series games, but those are still fantastic sales. Almost no games on the PS3 and 360 outside of Call of Duty and Halo can dream of those numbers.

Probably not. SMG2 started off as some leftover levels from SMG1, so I highly doubt, especially given the 2nd's higher difficulty level, that there were any good leftover levels after SMG2's development. We should actually be grateful that Nintendo has given us 3 quality Mario platformers this generation (4 if you count All-Stars Collection), not just asking for even more when we've already gottten so much.

Definitely not getting a 3rd Galaxy. I agree that another 2.5D platformer is much more likely. Nintendo is the company that innovates and gives us new, fresh ideas. Gone are the days of sequel after sequel of the same game with more levels (I'm looking at you, Mega Man!) So far, Ninty has been reviving its franchises and will more than likely be working on those. I'm hoping for a new Starfox game.

I doubt we'd see one on the Wii, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a sequel (or at least a remake) on the 3DS. Imagine going around the planets in actual 3D.

If they were to make another 3D Mario game, its going to be something new...I honestly believe the Galaxy days are done with, lol. If they did make another Galaxy game, it would probably end up on the 3DS. (since everyone would love to see one) But yeah, something new.

I had to force myself to play the first one to at least beat it, but I didn't really enjoy most of it. Needless to say, I didn't buy the second one. I hope there's no third Mario Galaxy. If they put it on the 3DS at least the 3D wouldn't be so annoying in the game if you could actually see the depth, but I probably still wouldn't buy it. I hate that the gravity is totally unphysical and isn't even used consistently: sometimes it's Epicurean and you can't walk underneath, while sometimes it's normal to any surface like some sort of pseudo-Newtonian gravity. Mostly what I don't like is that the game is tediously long and the plot feels sloppily thrown together.

I hope they try something different for the next 3D Mario. The last 4 games have had the same- go to a world, collect the stars- system. I would like to see them try something new for Mario the next time around.

Probably, but it would need to be very different from the other Galaxy games.

duh we will get another mario galaxy! The big N should let this series go as long as possible. its easy to get into and fun for casual gamers, but has amazing level design, content, and enough challenge for hardcore gamers. Although i wouldnt mind a bit of change. 3D would look very pretty as mario shoots through the galaxy. Bring the same controls over to the 3DS, but add more new power-ups and use yoshi in more levels. As well as online scoreboards, and online multiplayer or ds download so other players can work on special multiplayer stars. for example players may work together to get 5 silver stars in a record time to post their score on an online scoreboard. or race along the same level to get to the star, using items and powerups to knock other players out of the lead. Remaster the levels with the same overall gameplay, add those things, and BOOM! youve got a fresh amazing mario galaxy 3D (get it? its the 3rd one but its also in 3D!)
