Yes they do, but you need two controllers to activate them. And it'll only work when you first boot up the game, so if you did that already you'll have to erase your save data. :3
Oh yeah. I remember reading about that in magazines. They said if you messed up on the original console, you had to turn the power off and wait 30 seconds to a minute for the RAM to de-initialize.
They're referring to the data that gets saved from the suspend point like in all VC games.
