hi, I made an account just for this.
basically, I have like 3 nintendo wiis.
one of them, the disc drive doesn't work, one is the red anniversary one, and one has the homebrew channel, bootmii, etc on it.
I swap between the red wii and the modded wii to play games, as the white one has all my dad's save files and my red one is basically a mario kart machine.
i unplugged the red one and plugged in the modded one, and the red light came on (it's always been red, not yellow) but when I press the power button the light disappears and the wii doesn't turn on. i also tried to turn on via the eject button and it didn't work, i can't try with the wiimote as it's synced to my red wii.
I tried to unplug everything and remove the sd card and leave it for 5 minutes, then 10, and the same thing happened both times. we haven't put anything new on the wii in years so we weren't really messing with it a lot.
I don't know what to do, my dad is kinda angry about it (he has hundreds of hours in fortune street and other games).
when we played on it, it often made a lot of noises inside the console so idk whether something just blew.
please help if any of you guys know anything, thanks
@ughcreature A fan or power supply may have failed, preventing it from booting up. If dust builds up enough, it can short something out. These are issues that can happen to computers and consoles. Just making a guess. This may be a common, fixable scenario. Some retro game stores offer console repairs.
My very well kept GameCube no longer powers on. I've been waiting for the pandemic to end to drive an hour to a game store that repairs consoles here in the US. (I don't want to send my GameCube in the mail)
@WoomyNNYes fair enough. I only see my dad on the weekends so ill talk to him about it then, and thank you @Snatcher too. I'll come back or make another post if the compressed air doesn't work
@ughcreature I did a google search for "why won't wii turn on", and first result mentioned "resetting the AC adapter" which I know is a very common solution with Switch issues(won't power on, won't display on tv). Here are official directions from Nintendo Support. Don't get your hopes up too high, but give it a try, if you haven't already.
@WoomyNNYes unfortunately ive tried that already, but thank you. ive tried a lot of search queries and looked online but nothing like that seems to really help
@ughcreature Well if you call Nintendo more then likely they are going to want you to send it in to get repaired. Another alternative is see if there are any Retro gaming stores in your area or computer repair places sometimes those places will fix consoles as well for a small fee.

@Tasuki@WoomyNNYes well thank u guys, ill open it up next time I'm at dads and if it's not yucky or I clean it and it still doesn't work, I'll try and find a place
