Topic: Comparison of Samus's Power Suits

On a moment like when I've got nothing to do, I thought of something: which of all the Samus we've played is the most powerful one?
To to this, I will have to compare each suits, its functions, so here we go with a wall of text: (I'll go in creation order)

-----Metroid 1 Power Suit-----
Weapon System

  • Power Beam
  • Long Beam
  • Ice Beam OR Wave Beam
The no brainer is clearly the Ice beam, because it IS imperative if you want to survive to those Metroids in Tourian. The Wave Beam can be useful against Ridley, but that's about it.
  • Missiles (Total of 255)
Most powerful weapon of Samus, they are really useful for defeating large ennemies. They are Imperative to kill Metroids or Mother Brain.
    Defensive System*
Energy Tanks (Total of 6, so total of 699 hit points)
    Varia Suit
    Other Systems*
  • Morph Ball, Bomb
  • High-jump boots
  • Screw attack
While only the Bombs are absolutely needed, they are all useful to finish the game more easily.

Verdict on Metroid 1 Power Suit: Well, its the First one, let's not bash hard on it

-----Metroid II: Return of Samus Power Suit-----

Weapon Systems

  • Power Beam, Long Beam
  • Either Ice, Wave, Spazer or Plasma. (Plasma is the no brainer choice)
  • 250 Missiles
    Defensive Systems*
  • Energy Tanks (5, for a final 599 energy)
  • Varia Suit
    Other Systems*
Morph Ball, Bombs,Spider Ball, Spring Ball
    Space Jump, Screw attack
    High-jump boots

Verdict: Even with 100 less energy, it is clearly more powerful and versatile than the first.

-----Super Metroid Power Suit-----
Weapon Systems

  • Power Beam, Charge Beam (Including Long Beam)
  • Combination of Ice, Wave, Spazer and Plasma. Cannot Combine the two laters. Best one: Plasma and Wave, with either or not Ice.
  • Hyper Beam (for a little time, sadly)
  • 230 Missiles
  • 50 Super Missiles (Strength Power of 5 normal, if I remember)
  • 50 Power Bombs
    Defensive System*
  • Energy Tanks (14, for 1499 energy)
  • Reserve Tanks (4 for 400 more energy)
  • Varia Suit
  • Gravity Suit
    Other Systems*
  • Morph ball, bombs, spring ball
  • Grapple Beam
  • High-jump boots, Space Jump, Screw Attack
  • Speed Booster, Shinespark
  • X-ray scan (only 2D game with it!)

Verdict on Super Metroid Suit: What a boost in power! One of the most powerful and versatile of them all! (If not the ONE)

-----Metroid Fusion Suit-----
Weapon Systems

  • Power, Charge, Wide(Spazer), Ice, Wave and Plasma, all in one! (Ouch)
  • 250 Supers Ice Diffusion Missiles (!) (Oh my, we've got here a powerful mix...)
  • 32 Power Bombs (which is more than enough...)
    Defensive Systems*
  • Energy Tanks (20, for 2099 HP (!) )
  • Fusion Suit
  • Varia Suit
  • Gravity Suit
  • Omega Suit (What it does, we don't know, apart that she is orange...)
    Other Systems*
  • Morph ball, bomb, spring ball
  • high jump boots, space jump, screw attack
  • Space booster, Shinespark
  • Power grip
  • X Absorption, Metroid DNA capabilities (Will it serve in the next game? Who knows...)

Verdict on the Fusion Suit: Those missiles are godly, the beam combination is the most powerful one...

-----Metroid Prime 1 Suit-----
Weapon Systems

  • Either Power, Wave, Ice or Plasma, all with the charge capacity.
All beam have a Missile combo (Ice Missile or Super Missiles are the most useful)
  • 250 Missiles
  • 8 Power Bombs
  • Phazon Beam (Powerful, but like the Hyper Beam, for one act only )
    Defensive Systems*
  • Energy Tanks (14, for 1499 HP)
  • Varia Suit
  • Gravity Suit
  • Phazon Suit (So nice looking )
    Other Systems*
  • Space Jump boots
  • Morph Ball, bombs, boost ball, spider ball, spring ball (Wii only)
  • Scanner, Infrared Vision, X-Ray Vision

Verdict on the Metroid Prime 1 Suit: Nice looking, powerful, but nowhere near the late 2D ones that come after chronologically.

-----Metroid Prime 2 Suit-----
Weapon Systems
Power, Light, Dark and Annihilation Beam, all with charge capacity. (Annihilation beam is possibly the most powerful non-special non-combined beam of all Metroid, but it use Ammo, like the Dark and Light one...)

  • Beam/Missile Combos, The Light, Dark and Annihilation Beam uses Missiles AND ammo for the combo.
  • 255 Seeker Missiles
  • 10 Power Bombs
    Defensive Systems*
  • Energy Tanks (14, for 1499 HP)
  • Dark Suit
  • Light Suit
While they protect against the Dark energy, it only happen on one planet, so, they are equivalent to Varia and Gravity Suit protection powers.
    Other Systems*
  • Gravity Boost (Same effect than the Gravity Suit)
  • Grapple Beam
  • Morph ball, bombs, boost ball, spider ball, spring ball (Wii Only)
  • Space Jump Boots, Screw Attack
  • Scanner, Dark Visor, Echo Visor

Verdict on Metroid Prime 2 Suit: Nice Looking, More powerful than the first prime.

-----Metroid Prime 3 Suit-----
Weapon System

  • Power, Charge, Plasma and Nova Beam Combined.
  • 255 Ice Seeking Missiles (Nice!)
  • Phazon Beam (Feel the power!)
  • Hyper missile (Powerful!)
  • Hyper Ball (so useless...)
  • Hyper Grapple (see one line up)
    Defensive Systems*
  • Energy Tanks (14, for 1499 HP)
  • PED Suit
  • Hazard Shield (Work like a Gravity Suit Protection, if I remember)
    Other Systems*
  • Morph Ball, Bombs, Boost Ball, Spring Ball
  • Space Jump boots, Screw Attack
  • Grapple Beam, Grapple Lasso, Grapple Swing
  • X-Ray Visor

Verdict on Metroid Prime 3 suit: While the Hypermode is powerful, it is timed and use energy. The suit lack power bombs too...

-----Special One: Zero Mission-----
That one is special, well, because its a remake. Lets see how more powerful she is compared to the original.
Weapon Systems

  • Power, Long, Charge, Ice, Wave and Plasma Combined (also having the spazer effect for no item, Powerful!)
  • 250 Missiles
  • 30 Super Missiles
  • 18 Power Bombs
    Defensive Systems*
  • Energy Tanks (12, For 1299 HP)
  • Varia Suit
  • Gravity Suit
    Other Systems*
  • Morph Ball, Bombs, Spring ball
  • High-jump Boots, space jump, screw attack
  • Power Grip

Verdict on Zero Mission Suit: What a change compared to the original! Only if she had that suit against the Metroid on SR388, she would have blown them even easier...

(WARNING SPOILERS)-----Special One 2: Metroid Other M----- (WARNING SPOILERS)
That one is special too, changing how the system works...
Weapon Systems

  • Power, Diffusion Charge, Ice, Wave and Plasma Combined (but no Spazer effect, still the Diffusion effect is similar but really powerful)
  • 80 Missiles (But Technically, unlimited) Use 5 for a Super Missiles and 4 seeking ones. (Powerful)
  • Power Bombs (BOOOOOM, have you tried them on the guy that gives you the Seeker missiles? )
    Defensive Systems*
  • Energy Tanks/Reserve (9, for 999 HP)
  • Concentration Upgrade (3, healing 400 HP at a Time, like the reserve tanks in Super Metroid)
  • Varia Suit
  • Gravity Suit ( Or protection or whatever)
    Other Systems*
  • Morph Ball, bombs, Spring ball.
  • Space Jump, Screw Attack
  • Speed Booster, Shinespark (So NICE looking)

Verdict on Other M suit: Powerful, can heal on the spot and got technically unlimited missiles. But, it's another system.
END OF SPOILERS END OF SPOILERS END OF SPOILERS

----Big Verdict-----
After all that listing (took me long enough), here are what I think are the less powerful to the most powerful, feel free to argue!
Metroid 1
Metroid II
Metroid Prime 1
Metroid Prime 2
Metroid Prime 3
Metroid Zero Mission*
Metroid Other M*
Super Metroid
Metroid Fusion

  • Special Ones, may not count.

All I can say is that you have WAY too much time on your hands.

In MP3 there is also a spring ball.

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

I'd say the Light Suit from MP2. It also gives her the ability to travel on beams of light. I think it's also the best looking.

Wait, so the most powerful Power Suit is the one that's been 90% surgically removed?

Well, it's true that its weird but the numbers dont lies: She got herself more HP than any other games, and she got missiles more powerful than anyone (only tied maybe with the Hyper Missiles) and she got the horribly powerful Power, Charge, Ice, Wave, Plasma, Wide Beam, a thing she wasn't able to do in Super Metroid.

Maybe, but that happen on only one planet. If there was others beams of light, maybe and then, where could she find the Light/Dark Ammo to power up her Annihilation beam?
