Guys, I just had a Great thought in my Head, what if Nintendo / kingfeatures could team up to make A brand new Popeye the Sailor man game, but this time by using supersmashbros./ Arcade style.

There's not really that many Popeye characters for a game is there?

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

StarBoy91

There's Popeye, and Olive Oyl, and Wimpy, and Brutus, and Dadeye, and the witch character, and the Goonie creature, and Eugene the yellow genie, and Swee'Pea, and, uh..... and...... uhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm.....

Actually, I agree with Bass.

To each their own

Popeye feels dead to me.

I just don't think the franchise has big enough of a market for it.

The Fox is right. That sounds interesting, and I liked Popeye when I was a kid, but I don't think anyone is obsessed with Popeye enough to make a Popeye brawler.

I would be happy if they just released the arcade Popeye game.

This x100. Imagine if they had kept the rights though? Wasn't Super Mario Bros. originally going to feature Popeye?

@Sean
Miyamoto-san originally conceived Donkey Kong as a Popeye game, but they couldn't secure the rights to the character.

I too would love the arcade version of Popeye on VCA. Great, fun game. Even the atrocious 2600 version was fun to play.

I wasn't too impressed with Popeye when I tried it. Maybe I need to spend more time with it or something.

Ah well, I like the thought of Popeye bouncing on mushrooms...

There is something about the game, I don't know quite why I like it -- the music? The hearts? The faithfulness to the cartoons?

Part of it is definitely the graphics -- at the time, they were stellar, and i don't think it was all that common that you could play a game as a "real" (read:licensed) character. But the gameplay was just fun, simple yet enjoyable like the most successful of that era.
