I think it's a great game, but I get why people were dissapointed. Personally, I wasn't dissapointed--in fact I thought it improved upon Wild World in nearly every way (besides the fact that its not portable). I eventually had to sell it because it was screwing up my Wii, but I was 99% satisfied with it. What do you guys think.

I personally get sick of having to tend to the town every day if I want to have cool stuff. After I blow it off for a couple days it's easy to just not want to pick it up again. WiiSpeak was about the only awesome new feature.
I was in ways. Comparing it to the original is like comparing Sonic Adventure to Sonic the Hedgehog. That being said it got worse as time moved on which should be the opposite of what should've happened but did not. Yeah it was an improvement of WW but still felt like an improved port than a brand new game. If it was more on the lines of the original in the sense of that it should have had the down view camera angles, lighthouse, docks, wishing well, post office, dump, and police station. all of this would have been much more satisfying. Though still keeping the obvious improvements(such as more furniture, hats, wallpaper, carpet, etc., new characters, new events, and new controls), that would've made Animal Crossing City Folk a "must have" for fans of the series.
And the city is like a miniature sized mall with pointless tasks to do for extra replay-value. My most disappointing Wii game so far

Ja it was dissapointing for me. Thought it was just a complete ripoff of WW. The only improvements were the City and some excellent graphics. U couldn't play classic games like on the GC Animal Crossing, which I don't have. Waste of 50 bucks imo.

As derivative as the game is when compared to it's predecessors, it's no doubt the best of the three. Truth be told I didn't want CF when I saw how similar it is to the Wild World but I had gotten it as a gift, so I was kind of forced into the chore of building up my City... AGAIN! Now that the hard work is MOSTLY out of the way (I still have a few bugs and fish to catch in the next couple of months) I'm pretty happy that I have the game. It has the huge catalog, plus some, of Wild World but the sharper graphics of the first game. Well, they are MUCH better than that actually. What irked me most about WIld World was not only did the lower resolution make your house very blocky and void of fine detail on some items (bugs especially) but also that it limited you to a VERY finite amount of items that were allowed to be put down.

I love the game! The only thing I found disappointing about it was the grass dying. For a while I was very upset about it. But over the spring and summer I've worked hard at growing my grass back, and feel a sense of accomplishment at how well I've done. I still play the game every day (some times for hours blush). It's great playing with friends, though I like playing on my own as well. To me the game is like my own little world that I'm in control of.
A few months ago I picked up a copy of Animal Crossing: Wild World, but I've pretty much quit playing. I found it really boring after playing the Wii version. A lot of people say it's the same game, but I don't think so, really. The characters aren't as friendly, they move out after a short time, and they're annoying as anything (One of them called me a jerk!).

@Victoria One of them called me a jerk the other day too! The thing that Wild World has going for it is that it's portable--which really is a huge advantage. But after playing the Wii version, Wild World is a little sparse in comparison. I love City Folk. I think people just had too many expectations for it.

I loved City Folk so much, until it boiled down to the same chores (wonderfully addictive ones) I was doin' day to day on GC & DS. I await Animal Crossing MMO with much expectation. I love it but yes I was disappointed, eventually.
