Yes! It foxed me too. You need to start a fire by dropping the coals onto the fire pit, make a flame and then spin the screen so it sets fire to the trees.
This game is great, I really love the ripped paper aesthetic, very organic. The controls work well on all set-ups too, but I've stuck with the Wiimote for the moment. I picked it up a few days ago, I'm only up to the 2nd chapter.
@Starcross64, I just use the Wii Remote only. What's frustrating is that turning it doesn't work well for me. It's imprecise and sometimes when I make full turn I can't go further and have to turn the other way. What's also frustrating that very small falls are deadly. The slope trick just don't work. I do like the graphics though. Looks nice, especially the later levels (currently with the brightly colored platforms. I absolutely hate the music and sound effects. It's very annoying.

In the tutorial like bit, I did the slope trick on my first try. But after that, it doesn't. No matter which angle the slope is, I just crashed and ripped apart.

I tried that, but every time the coals just break into smaller pieces or disappear.

I think that part has 2 fire pits very close together, you have to ignite the coal in the pit nearest the leaves, when it catches fire rotate to change the direction of the flames until all leaves are burned.
I bought this a few days ago, and I think it's a pretty good game. It's a bit frustrating sometimes when you know exactly how to do it but you can't quite control it well enough and end up having to redo a section over and over 50 times to get it perfectly right. The game only lasts a few hours. I guess the achievements will give it more replay value than Lostwinds, but I'm not sure if I will bother getting the achievements. I find the classic controller the easiest for this game.
This game was really fun. Then I got to the stupid bee level in the epilogue. That level was not fun. It was incredibly frustrating and stupid.
I don't mind them putting enemies in that chase you down. But enemies that can follow you through time (i.e. they keep moving/attacking when you freeze time)? That's just absurd.
Anyway I picked up the Kamikaze achievement. Good times.
Anyone else have problems with bugs in this game? The first couple times I tried to do the Chapter 1 Marathon, it froze up my Wii. Then I somehow got it to work finally, and I played it over and over to get the 5-minute achievement. I noticed sometimes buggy things would seem to be happening with the time, like one time it was saying I was doing more than a minute better than my best time, but I somehow finished with a time 2 minutes longer even though it definitely felt like a perfectly good run, so it was doing something screwy with the time. I finally earned the achievement for going under 5 minutes, then I just turned on my Wii again, and that achievement is gone, although when I check the best times in the speed runs it still shows I have a time of 4:50.815 for Profile 1, so I don't get how it could save the time but not save the achievement in my profile. Well, I guess I definitely won't bother with the achievements if it's going to be so screwy.

Nope, I didn't have any problems with it. Ran fine for me.
Ugh, I just did the Chapter 1 Marathon achievement again, and then it showed it in my achievements, and then as soon as I went to check the completion of my profile it still said 74% like it had before, so I went back to check my achievements again, and the achievement was already gone. I hadn't even turned off the game or anything. None of the other achievements have disappeared on me after I got them, so I don't know why this one isn't saving.

Bugs like that, with achievements and the like, are such a shame. It's fairly minor, but really dampens the experience of the game. Hopefully I won't have any issues, I haven't so far.
Now that I have beaten the Journey, I want to go back and try the Marathon runs. I agree, Benanen, bugs in a great game like AYIM are a total shame. I feel confident about the first world's marathon run, but holy cow is the 3rd going to be tough!
