I just don't understand the naming of this title. It makes it sound like a souped up or enhanced version of the original. Particularly with the 3ds one coming likely within a few months of the new Wii U game. Since when is a sequel named the exact same thing as it's predecessor but with an X at the end? It has the feel of Ultra Super Duper Street Fighter 4.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of the word "Chronicles" in titles, but that's just me. Why not something simple that sounds sleek and rolls off the tongue like Xenoblade 2. Xenoblade Chronicles X can not only be confusing, but doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
I don't really see the problem, letters have been used just as much as numbers to indicate a sequel. About the tongue rolling I can't say that Assassins Creed Black Flag or Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze roles of mine any easier than Xenoblade Chronicles X. People interested enough in this game now that it is a sequel and the folks that just see the game in the store can see that XB 3DS/Wii is totaaly different from XBX.
Everything can change, but I'm never changing who I am
Yeah, I would have preferred just "X." As much as I like Nintendo, titles are certainly not their strong suit. I mean names like Wii U, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/for Nintendo Wii U, New Super Mario Bros. U. etc. are extremely lame but whatever.
Chronicles gives it a sense that its a large grand story, and the X makes it just sound like its 'edgier' than other stuff, unfortunately people don't do that anymore but I can live with it
the only part that confuses me is the Xenoblade part, as far as I'm aware there isn't even an item called Xenoblade
The whole "Chronicles" part was brought in by NoE's localization team in the first place, so I think the japanese title Xenoblade X is sufficient. Coming up with an entirely new name would prove to be difficult without knowledge of the game, seeing how the Xeno- titles of previous Monolith games always related to the story in certain ways.
@Akazury Except that Xenoblade Chronicles x is not a sequel, but more of a spiritual successor based on Xenoblade's ending.

@Sparx: There was no item called Xenoblade in Xenoblade Chronicles. The Monado was the blade. The blade in this case is an acronym for "Beyond the Logos Artficial Destiny Emancipator."
To blessed to be stressed.

Sounds like they were stretching with that acronym
I did a lil bit of research and found out the 'xeno' is a reference to the director of the games, that and 'xeno' meaning foreign/strange so I can forgive the name now :T

At first I would agree but if you have played Takahashi's games you know there is going to be psychology, philosophy, religion mixed in while your character is defying god(s), destiny, fate, etc. and then realize it makes some sense.

Nah, I don't think it needs a different title. You do know there's a thread for this game already though, right? It's a few pages back, so I don't blame you for not seeing it, but it's there.
I hope it won't go off the radar completely, since we got pretty far in it.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, let's not stretch it. The B.L.A.D.E. acronym only applies to either ELMA (since she is an artificial existence intended to guide stranded humans to the city), or it's the general term for the system any artificial intelligence created by humans is based on. It has nothing to do with the first Xenoblade game. Moreover, the term "Xenoblade" is an indicative name for both the abilities and the intended purpose of the Monado, with "Xeno" being an implication of unlimited possibilities or something like that, and blade just being a reference to how the Monado is a tool to sever the threads of fate itself (considering the vision mechanics, that's rather clear).
Well its clearly set in a future world to chronicles so maybe its the 10th instalment.... X.....
It's not set in the future of the last game. They take place in completely different universes.
The "world" that the people lived on in the first game was in fact two giant titans (I'm not sure of their exact names), with no connection to the "real world".
This time around, the game takes place in the future of our own world, as is evidenced by the U.S. ship that is seen escaping the Earth's destruction during the E3 trailer. This is the ship that crashes onto the alien world that is the game's setting, and why the city is called Neo Los Angeles.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
