During the weekend I purchased Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection (it was on sale for PS3 for Golden Week in Japan) and while playing through it, I began to wonder if Snake could come back in the new Smash Bros. I did enjoy playing as him in Brawl and I would be happy if he did return, but it seems unlikely to me since he has had very few games on Nintendo systems recently. If he were to return, I think we would most likely see a MGS announced at E3 for Wii U. What are everyone's thoughts about Snake and if he should return or not in the next Smash Bros.? Also would you expect a MGS game to be released for Wii U for this to happen?
Btw, I remember hearing awhile ago that the voice actor of Raiden said that he was recording for Smash Bros., does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

A few things.... Of course I want Snake back. He's awesome I HOPE Phantom Pain comes to Wii U but I HIGHLY doubt it The voice actor of Raiden situation turned out to be a huge misunderstanding.
Not especially, no. I've never been a fan of the Metal Gear series. However, variety is always nice, so I wouldn't say no to including him if there's room for him and people want to see him.
While snake would be cool, personally I don't really think he will return because he isn't really a popular character on Nintendo consoles and I think the only reason he appeared in brawl was because of twin snakes; though if Konami were to give us anything I would hope it would be Simon Belmont from Castlevania because he is probably the most relevant Konami character for Nintendo platforms.
No, not at all. Metal Gear Solid has never been even close to a Nintendo IP, and it's one of the most overrated game series IMO. His games are never on Nintendo platforms besides the Gamecube remake of the 1st game, and that's not changing anytime soon. If Konami was going to put any character in SSMB I would rather it be Simon Belmont hands down, a HD remake of his appearance in Super Castlevania IV. At least Sonic has been on Nintendo systems as of late and the relastionship between Sega and Nintendo is so strong after their rivalry, and Megaman was such a great IP for the NES, and SNES.
I rarely played Snake, but he was a very unique fighter and is an important part of both nintendo and video game history. I have a feeling he's going to be the only character completely cut and removed from the series.

I'm not sure I follow this thread. A soldier/spy character doesn't belong in a lineup consisting of plumbers, dinosaurs, princesses, swordsmen, warlocks, racecar drivers, anthropomorphic animals, children, space bounty hunters, robots, and a variety of miscellaneous monsters?
I loved him. Hide in box, strangle opponents, set up an rpg - hell yeah, he adds some nice extra variety to a game that is such ridiculous fun because of the out of place-ness and goofball variety.
Yes, he should come back. He was one of the best two characters in the game. I really hope he comes back. I swear, if they put the Wii Fit trainer in, and take him out.
Snake was a great addition can't see how he didn't fit in when you have plumbers fighting dinosaurs fighting robots plus the codec conversations were brilliant. Snake is easily one of the most unique and diverse fighters who in the right was great to think up strategies and traps, conclusion I would love for him to be back.
I'm a longtime fan of everything Metal Gear, but I don't think it's necessary to have Solid in it again. There's only been one entry ported to a Nintendo system since 2004. He's irrelevant to Nintendo.

Exactly.
It was ported to the 3DS and was the first Metal Gear title to appear on a Nintendo system since 2004.
