Hey, kids of America, it's hand-painted, wooden Ball in a Cup! Who needs constant electronic video stimulation when there's Ball in a Cup, Mexico's favorite toy for over 340 years! Toss the ball, catch it in the cup, dump it out of the cup, toss it, and catch it in the cup again. The ball is on a string and attached to the cup, so there's no worry if you don't catch the ball in the cup, and clean-up is as easy as catching a ball in a cup! So why spend another day not catching a ball in a cup when you could be catching a ball in a cup?

Ball in a Cup, Ball in a Cup, it's a Ball in a Cup!

As usual it depends on the games you want to play. If you asked me this question a year ago I would have said no, as for me personally I was questioning being an early adopter and whether I had made the right decision. But I have brought Pikmin 3, SM3D World and have Mario Kart on order. Third party wise Rayman Legends, Deux Ex, Mass Effect, NFS Most Wanted, BLOPS 2. Granted if you already have a 360 or PS3 then most of the third party games you may already have. Looking forward there is Bayonetta 2 , X and Smash ( if that's your thing) . The first party games will shine, not many third party games as usual, but plenty of indie titles. Compared to my PS4 at the minute there are more Wii U games I want than PS4 games ( The Order 1866 & Infamous 2nd Son) .
It's a decision only you can make.

Smash bros and Mario Kart 8 are around the corner and I'm really tempted to buy one, so to the guys who own a Wii u. Are you happy with it?

There will probably be a Mario Kart 8 bundle available in the future that might save you some money.

Personally, I'm extremely happy with the Wii U and the quality of the titles, 10 times more so than I was with the Wii. If you choose to get a Wii U, make sure to have a couple of different controller options, depending on what you're playing. For example, I personally prefer to play DK: Tropical Freeze with a Pro Controller, Pikmin 3 with Nunchuck, games with tight GamePad integration (like Lego City: Undercover) with the GamePad, games with simple controls with the Wii controller.

I'll add my two cents.

I play between 10 hours and 20 hours per month (Kid wife etc). Have had the 'U since Christmas 2012. Have enough money to buy games, Xbox and/or the PS4 (but not willing to cross the wife on multiple consoles just yet) Hell, I only have it cause I knew the wife wouldn't let me buy it, so I tapped Mama on the shoulder for Christmas (yeah...shameless)

(1) Things were pretty barren prior to e3 2013, but there are now more than enough exclusive games to play and a few of the multiplats.

(2) The gamepad is awesome for off TV play. Don't know how you all 'mericans do it, but in NZ we have 1 TV per lounge. If the missis is watching any of American Idol, Australian Idol or NZ Idol (yes we get all three and more) what are you going to do? You're gonna Off TV play the hell out of your 'U.

(3) From the supposed hardcore point of view, I've sunk over 60 hours into BLOPS 2 multiplayer whilst sitting right next to the missis listening to "Shanikwa" struggle her way through a few dolly parton lines. I consider it quality time. If I had a 'one, or a PS4, I would be watching Keith Urban judge terrible singers. After a hard days work. and then I would repeat it the next day, and the next...

For me - the Wii U is worth it. Biggest selling point - Off TV Play. 2nd Biggest Selling Point - Nintendo Exclusives that do the system justice.

It has been posted here before, but once I got used to it, I really like using the gamepad as a browser and also for Netflix.

The obvious simple answer tho, is if you like Nintendo in general, then yes, get it and you will love it. I've owned various Nintendo products over the years, but missed a lot- N64, Gamecube, DS and got in on the Wii late. I've never finished a donkey kong or mario game, but always enjoyed them. So, I've been a fan, but not a die hard fan by any stretch, but I've loved the Wii U more than any other system.

Other things to consider- it's great for kids. Wii Party U is pretty cool, Sonic & Mario at the Olympics, Game & Wario and Nintendoland.....Fairly entertaining even for adults but kids love it.

Finally- if you are okay with just having a few of the big names that are dated- AC, COD, Madden, NFS, Mass Effect, Splinter Cell- I've got enough of that type stuff- more than I'll need honestly. If that's your thing and you are wanting the latest, then at least for now, Wii U is certainly not a good option. BUT, I've had fun with the Indy games

I am going to invest in a Wii U at some point in the future. Just been made redundant so cant afford it at the moment, but when im back in work ill save up for one. When i eventually get one ill probably get Lego City, Windwaker HD, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, Super Mario 3D and maybe some more.

Will see how things go!
