Here in the uk is there a limited amount of pro controllers been released as I can't get hold of one anywhere. Even the nintendo shop is sold out...
whats going on???
Don't order from Amazon.com order from one of the other EU ones. (Use Google Chrome with Google Translate).
A UK bank cannot charge fees for Euros. And you won't end up with at least £20 worth of import duty.
just checked and I think all of the European amazon sites share the same warehouses because they are all back ordered too.
also it sucks that you guys have to pay import fees in the US they don't charge us a thing.
Sorry to derail a tad, but on the topic of the Pro Controller, is it required for any game in order to play multiplayer? I have two wiimote+ w/nunchuks for multi and don't really want to buy the Pro unless I have to or can find one for cheap

It all depends on the game, but as far as 3rd party multipats are concerned, most only support the Gamepad or Pro Controller. So like, RE Revelations, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Assassin's Creed 3 and 4, Mass Effect 3, Injustice, Ninja Gaiden 3, etc.
Call of Duty BO2 and Ghost also support motion control via Wiimote/Nunchuk, Need for Speed also supports Wiimote/Nunchuk or Classic Controller Pro, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 also supports Classic Controller Pro, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate also supports Classic Controller Pro, and Sonic Racing Transformed also supports Wiimote/Nunchuk and Classic Controller Pro WITHOUT Pro Controller support (although it IS compatible off-the-books if the first button pressed after starting the disc is on a Pro Controller). Mario Kart will, of course, also support Wiimote, Wiimote/Nunchuk and Classic Controller Pro.
But the one thing ALL these games have in common, is that they ALL support Gamepad and Pro Controller.
So yes, I'd definitely recommend buying one. Besides, they're just really comfortable and you get 80 hours on a single charge. I have 2 black ones, and bought a Nyko charge base for $13 with magnetic clips that plug into the controllers. They clips snap out for easy access, after which you just pull them out of the controller USB port and magnetically snap them back on the base. Very cool, and very affordable.

Thanks for the long reply. I'll probably break down and get the white Pro Controller, it's pretty sexy. I just think the only games I might use it are MK8 and SSBU. I actually love the Gamepad for most games, and all the other functions it has. I even use the wiimote+chuk combo for some games and really enjoy them for their light weight and the fact I can use it with my arms resting at my side.
^according to http://www.mariowiki.com/Super_Smash_Bros.for_Nintendo_3DS/_Wii_U it's apparently necessary for local multiplayer as only that and the Gamepad can be used and I'm not gonna go figure out a way to get a second Gamepad. really disappointing, I was thinking of getting a Classic Controller, since it's an option for some Wii U games and is actually necessary for certain games on the Wii shop. Now I'll end up probably getting both ugh. I hope Nintendo's next console includes a Gamepad as its main input again and is compatible with all the legacy controllers going back to the Wii.
Frankly I would be surprised if Smash Bros doesn't support multiple control schemes including the Classic Controller. Plus if it doesn't support the CC then those guys making the Gamecube inspired controller specifically for Smash Bros will be annoyed.
Either way, the Pro Controller is pretty fantastic. If you want to do local multi on Wii U you should get one.

For me it's Nintendo's best ever controller. Perfect in every way.
Best controller ever. Only thing missing are analog triggers just like those of gamecube. These were awesome. I wonder why it's not on a wii u pro controller 2 generations later.
I have a pro controller, but unlike most here the only time I use mine is when I'm doing local multiplayer. The rest of the time I'm perfectly happy with the gamepad.
It's worth noting that before I picked up my Wii U a few months ago, it had been years and years since I'd used a controller on a daily basis. Hence, the gamepad probably feels rather natural to me since my hands have long since lost their 'controller conditioning,' which is likely a factor in the above compared to others.
want 1 for my 5 year old lad while multi playing as he really struggles to grasp using wii remote and numchuck but think it'll come in handy for the likes of smash bros upon it release..
thanks everyone for your input...
by the way looks like now Amazon are getting a load of new stock stating that they'll be available from the 28th may..

Several of those games, such as Injustice, support Wii Classic controllers. Most third-parties games don't put the icon on the box, but many still support those controllers.
