I would assume around the $300 mark, mostly because of that giant of a controller. I can't really see Nintendo going above $325 because that would go against their whole "we try to make things affordable" statement. Then again, the 3DS price-point was raised due to high interest, so who knows.

@3DSneedsRPGs No way am I paying that much for it, but I doubt it will be so steep....right? RIGHT?!
Well, lets hope!
I think that this price from retailers is just a safe bet. What I mean is, say (and i know this won't happen) the Wii U ends up costing them £380 to buy from Nintendo, then they're safe. Same the other way, say Nintendo sell the Wii U ot retailers for say £80, they're safe in the knowledge that they can lower the price, and that with the current £400 price they won't be losing any money on the pre-orders that they do get coming in.
Also, I'd just like to say for guys in the US I think your hoping for too low-a-price. I'm betting around £300 here, and your betting about $300. But £300 is equal to precisely...... $480.87. If you guys are saying $300 that would be..... £187.14 for us in the UK. Man would that be a great price, I'd buy it in a second!
I would have to agree with ZackNormandin on this You got it dead on. $499 1st release, Then $399 shortly after, then $349 2rd yr, then $299 3rd-4th yr, eventually $199 That,s another reason why I will be waiting to pick up a Wii-U anytime soon.
If a video game has no console does it really exist?
I think it'll be in the 350-400$ range. They have no direct competition so they can set a high price on it, but hopefully they won't after seeing the 3DS sales suffer from the pricing.
I'm just hoping for the cheapest price possible as a consumer so that I might be able to buy 1-3 games with it on release.
I'm not buying into it unless it is $300-$350 with the Wiipad controller bundled, and even then the 3DS will probably have so much of my attention that I won't even be motivated to get it.

The Kindle Fire, a very underpowered tablet device, is selling (at a loss) for $US200.
The Wii U, which features a very underpowered tablet + HD game console, is coming from a company that doesn't like selling at a loss. It will sell for...
