Topic: White Tanooki suit is a horrible idea

This is disgusting that they even give you this option. I know Nintendo is supposed to specialize in family friendly games, but this would make more sense if it was a cheat or something. Back in the day, games were challenging for a reason. Now you can just breeze by any stage without any rewarding feeling for beating it. I seriously hope Nintendo doesn't do this in future Mario games but that's unlikely because they're using it Mario 3D World, 3D Land, and Super Mario U. I think it's going to be a regular thing now and that's really disappointing.

You can just, I denno, not grab it?

Game(s) right now: Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon, World of Final Fantasy Maxima

Yes, because adding an optional item in order to make the game accessible to a wider range of people is such a horrible thing...

Like Webby-sama don't grab it and move on.

as everyone else says. It's a choice. It's also an incentive to keep playing for younger children who don't have the hand eye coordination. That way they don't complain to the parent and the parent might just, i dunno, sell the game back or the kid gives up and the game gathers dust for months until the parent complains and sells it back because said child won't play it anymore.

Wait, you failed that many times at a level and saw that? Woah, you really need it then because it dont seem you can handle. Heck, you're probably upset even with the suit you still failed the level. I bet you failed so many times, the game just gave you a fully completed level!

It shouldn't even be an option.

I don't care if it's just a kids game. Teaching children that "everyone is a winner" is a bad lesson. If you don't have skill and just suck, you should lose.

So you just feel that you can't brag about beating a level because there is an optional way to keep progressing?

Like I said, back in the day, Nintendo games were challenging and beating a stage or a hard boss gave you a sense of accomplishment. Now all of that is flushed down the toilet and everyone is a winner. It's pathetic.

I've never bought an amibo and have no idea what you're trying to say.

I feel like this is really a personal issue and a thread for it is not needed

Then don't post in the thread. It's completely optional, just like the White Tanooki suit.

So you get no personal sense of satisfaction for beating a stage without the suit?

I haven't played 3d world yet but does it mark the level to let you know you used the suit?

You're mostly saying if they don't win, or can't win, they shouldn't be able to do the next level. That sucks the joy out of games. Kids want to turn on a game, play a few levels, do something else. They don't want to be trapped on a level. The white tanooki suit is for quick players and will not let you 100% the game as you can't change out of it. The suit appeals to casuals and is meant to be ignored by hard cores. But hey, I guess not all people can understand such confusing concepts meant to please the masses.

Exactly, and that's the way it should always be. If it sucks the joy out a game, then you just suck. Games, and the older Mario games were about trial and error.

If you hadn't noticed, Nintendo's bread and butter are the families and kids. The kids who grew up in the 80's who now have kids. Yeah those folks. It wouldn't be a good idea to make things TOO hard that it'll stop a kid in there tracks and make the parents feel like it was wasted money cuz said child doesn't want to continue. This everyone's a winner BS, i totally understand. That is supposed to apply in life like School, work, and life in general. Games are an escape, a hobby, a profession even. The majority of us don't care about this white tanooki suit stuff. I never picked it up. My girlfriend and niece did cuz they sucked.

Of course some kids aren't good at Mario. I think you're upset because you keep failing the levels and seeing the white tanooki suit, Nintendo mostly saying you suck. I've only ever once had the suit show up for me because the levels are pretty simple, but some kids dont see levels as simple.

Games for the classic NES were meant for kids too. Todays society is much more sensitive and soft compared to back then. I don't think there is any denying that.
