I am currently playing through Pikmin 3 and have started thinking about my next game for my Wii U but am unsure what to get.
Am happy with either retail or download only and was wondering what other Wii U owners would recommend?
Currently I own:
New Super Mario Bros U
Nintendo Land
Zombi U
Lego City Undercover
Darksiders 2
Wind Waker HD
Rayman Legends
Sonic Lost World
Pikmin 3
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Super Mario 3D World
On e-shop I have Trine 2, Duck tales, Giana Sisters, NES Remix and Cloudberry Kingdom.
Wonderful 101 and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate both great and are under $25 on amazon, also Tekken tag 2 if you like fighting games and it's pretty cheap too.
On top of what has been said, definitely get Deus Ex: Human Revolution DC at some point if you like sci-fi RPGs, stealth games, or character-driven, semi-open world FPS games whatsoever. That'd be my top recommendation. It's the most engrossing game on the console, far as I'm concerned.
NFS: Most Wanted U if you enjoy open-world racing games. (With more than a little aimless cruising.)
Assassin's Creed 4 deserves some consideration if you desire a grand pirate game. (And a goofy AC game.)
I can't live without one good fighting game for each console, so Tekken Tag 2 applies there. Just make sure you have some buds or gals to beat the snot out of.
MH3U if you are patient, lust for grinding, and want to play something co-op and/or online. (May want to consider a hefty caffeine investment on the side.)
Mass Effect 3: SE is almost certainly the most enjoyable way to play that specific game if you realize the trilogy is more of a gimmick that does not fulfill its promise nor make a significant return on the necessary investment. That said, each game stands quite well on its own. You can make an argument for any of the three depending on what you want from the experience. ME3 probably has the best combat and character progression, which is greatly enhanced by the slick GamePad features.
For eShop games:
Toki Tori 2+ is a game I am not thrilled with. Actually it angers me in it's own distinct way. Plus, the Wii U version is probably a complete rip. However, for some, this game is a seminal work. Problem is, there are just as many who cannot derive almost any value from it's obtuse progression and indulgent design.
Unepic is an entertaining throwback to old-school, side-scrolling Arcade RPGs. (With grating Voice Acting and mind-numbing writing.)
You seem to like platformers, so I'd say Edge ($1.99) is a no brainer as a pick-up-and-play title that distills the genre down to it's essence.
Runner2 is OK for a similar, yet drastically different experience. Many swear by it, but be aware your mileage may vary.
However, if you are willing to play some VC games and haven't been experienced either Super Metroid, A Link to the Past, Mega Man X, Contra III, Advance Wars, or Mario & Luigi: SS... I'd download one (or all) of those and call it a weekend.
