Yeah, definitely needs some Animal Crossing. People like to say that the console versions are inferior because the portable versions are portable. I disagree. I reckon the fact that the console versions are more of a shared experience makes them their own thing.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
I would say large scale RPGs, FPSs, open world games(like Lego City and Watch Dogs), sports, and sci-fi(like Aliens). I wouldn't say the games Wii U are missing are even what we should be asking for, though. All the systems should be getting better games than what they are, IMO. Wii U just isn't getting very many of the current games, which are what I would consider mediocre, anyway.
There hasn't really been any 8th gen magic, IMO. The only things that come close, are Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2, Dead Rising 3, maybe Ryse or Sunset Overdrive. Then there is Infamous Second Son, Killzone, and Knack, which I would consider to have really good graphics, but the gameplay isn't nearly as good as the other games I mentioned, IMO, which is why I have a Wii U and Xbox One, right now.
Not much Stealth Action Adventure mentions in here.
"They played us like a damn fiddle!" - MGS5
"Finish your mission, prove your loyalty." - MGS3

JRPGs. It would have been nice if Nintendo would have hired Mistwalker, but I think the days of Nintendo financing games like Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 are over, as both have surely lost them a lot of money. Nintendo are here to make money at the end of the day, and they know there's no point financing a nice genre like JRPGs that will struggle to sell 500,000 when they can fart out another 2D platformer and have it sell millions.
3D Platformers. As lovely as 3D World is, it plays more like a 2D game. I'd love Nintendo to have a bash at creating a sprawling 3D platformed with a new IP. When was the last time we had a new 3D platforming IP? It's been over 10 years since Sly Racoon, Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter, 15 years since Banjo and Conker. Again, it probably won't happen because they know a 3D platformed takes a lot more time/people to make and sells a fraction of what the 2D ones do.
At least there's a good chance we will see a Metroid Prime on the machine.
Oh yeah, we definitely need more Nintendo 64/Gamecube era 3D platformers. Indeed, it makes me depressed that Microsoft bought Rare, given how Banjo Kazooie filled that niche perfectly...
Well for starters, there's several Nintendo IPs that have yet to make the jump to Wii U. Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, Metroid, F-Zero, and main series Kirby are the big ones. They also need a collectathon platformer. In fact, the genre's been practically dead since Galaxy 2. Other than that I can't really think of anything else, it has most of the biggest and most popular genres covered already and it's got several big IPs out already.
It's been said but I'll say it again. F-Zero. I got a taste with the Mario Kart 8 DLC and now I want it more than ever.
My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."
Metroid Prime (successor)
Paper Mario RPG
3D Mario 64/Sunshine/Galaxy (successor)
Mario Sports title (Soccer/Baseball/Tennis)
They would be titles off the top of my head that are yet to make an appearance, but should in 2016 or so. I think an Animal Crossing will arrive in 2016 too, but i'm kind of lukewarm on the franchise. Aside from that, I hope we see a few more of these 'garage' projects like Splatoon come to fruition, and oh... an open-world Pilotwings game (not-likely tho..!)
There's plenty of action/fighting titles and platformers on offer as it is, i'd like to see them diversify with some more strategy & RPG titles (turn-based preferably) going forward.. and just more weird & fun stuff like Splatoon and Codename S.T.E.A.M will do me fine!
1. Mario Sunshine 2
2. A new Paper Mario game
3. Mario Baseball or American Football (I've got FIFA 13 for football)
4. F Zero
5. An exclusive pure shooter I'd love a sequel to Geist
6. Metroid
7. Pilotwings
8. Lego City 2
9. A COD style modern shooter exclusive
10. Fantasy RPG like Dragons Dogma or Dragon Age
-So, Nintendo is severly lacking in the RPG department, sure X is coming, but that won't satisfy every RPG fan, im only half looking forward to it, so other varied RPGs, um Figthers are lacking too,
-anything 2D Vs. Capcom would be great, IDK if the fighting genre has last momentum in the past few years.
-So other styles of racing would also be awesome, Most wanted U and Mario Kart are great, but there is room for other racers, (wave race, 1080, F-zero).
another Battalion Wars style game!!! or Advance wars!!.
Any new IP, Im all for exploration of new ideas, characters and gameplay, lay it on me Nintendo!
more 3D platformers (of quality) that maybe take advantage of amiibo in a unique way?!?
On-rails shooter. Arcade. Point and click puzzle adventures. Creature creation game like Spore or Amazing Island. A sim game. Super Monkey Ball, etc. It's still pretty early in the gen, though.
