I find it funny that people think there is any other reason(s) for the lack of 3rd party games on Nintendo systems for anything other than lousy game sales.
It doesn't help that 3rd Parties make up other excuses.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Yeah, that was a little weird. At least now they are coming out and saying not enough people buy our games.

Probably true, but the Xbox One has not been abandoned, nor is there any complaints from 3rd parties about the lack of sales. I don't think this issue can be reduced down to one problem, though sales perhaps is the biggest problem.

But 3rd Party games sell relatively well on Xbox One.

I guess. I basically agree with the sales argument. I just think there are many variables as to why the sales weren't better which also shouldn't be forgotten.

There are reasons why they didn't sell well but a business isn't going to see it. They are going to see that they released a game and not many people bought it. I do wonder how Child of Light sold on Wii U compared to other consoles.

I really don't think games like Splinter Cell or Assassin's Creed would have sold much better even if they weren't "gimped." Most people that buy those games or are interested in them own a PS/Xbox and will continue to buy the games on those consoles even if they own a Wii U.

Probably not that well considering Valiant Hearts didn't come to the Wii U. Then again, if Child of Light did sell better on Wii u than other systems, I'd be pretty confused as to why a Valiant Hearts skipped it.

Which would confirm the fact of 3rd Parties not selling well on Wii U.

Valiant Hearts was probably already planned to skip the Wii U before Child of Light was released

It is hard to take the "more power is better" argument seriously when Bioshock has been ported to iOS
Power doesn't matter as much in the tablet / mobile realm, because gaming is not the central feature. Power does matter, or at least the perception of it seeming powerful, is important in the console realm, simply because that's how we were brought up as gamers. More bits, more polygons, more power. Nintendo is unfortunately losing customers over this pretty sad abstract concept that is engrained in a lot of gamers' perception of progress.
That is the point. the power isn't what is important, that is just what "gamers" think is important. If Bioshock can be ported to iOS, why can't Bioshock Infinite be ported to Wii U. It isn't about power but about sales. The reason why Bioshock Infinite isn't on Wii U is the sales. If the games were coming to Wii U then the power argument wouldn't be relevant. Problem is the games aren't coming to Wii U and they aren't coming because of 3rd Party game sales
And some from the Wii U not being available when the game went into production but we are pretty much past that point by now.
I totally agree to those who say the 3rd party escape is 90% because of poor sales on wiiU....the biggest 3rd party number on the system has been made by zombie U, 700k copies... and was even bundled... and an exclusive... so, their escape is totally understandable from an economical point of view...
To those who say "who cares? We have a lot of good first party games now, i am not rich enough to buy every single game which came out" I would just point out that in september I can choose btw buying Hirule warriors or nothing.... no fifa, no destiny, no driving game.... that' s the big issues, since i have wiiu i can't choose which game pick up, i can just say "will i like the release from this month... mmm oh gosh, its another platform"....
I'm perfectly fine with Nintendo's approach of unique hardware, because it generally does create unique experiences. People may not be as open-minded as they were in the older days, but the reality is that while the other systems have overall a greater number of games, those games can be had in multiple places. In the end, you buy Nintendo because it's the only place you'll get [insert experience here].
The problem now is that gaming has become so mainstay and popular to the developed countries that it is now privy to the nature of "fads". Videogames used to be a niche category of interest, so only those interested were those playing. Now that it's become a more common category of interest, you have a greater number of people who simply "follow the lead" on what seems popular or cool. The selling points become null for most of these people, because they just want to play what everyone else seems to want to play, or what seems like the "cool" thing to do.

I semi-agree with you. The problem is Nintendo isn't really diversifying their experiences while all the other camps are. Sony has platformers, really great cartoony art directed games, family games, and music games. I mean heck they even just straight ripped off Smash Bros. with the PS All Stars to bring that experience to Sony fans. So that is all happening while they are also still getting mature shooters, fighters, adventure games, GTA, etc. They are widening their fanbase with a lot of alternatives. Meanwhile, Nintendo is still just doing their fun family oriented familiar franchise thing, which is a great thing, but it's becoming the only thing they have. Plus, the idea that their "unique experiences" are tied to the "unique hardware" just isn't as prevalent with the U as it was with Wii. The Gamepad is convenient and at times clever, but in no way, so far, the linchpin to why the great Wii U games are great.
Well, and I semi-agree with you. Sony may have lot more diversity, but much of it is mediocre diversity. The majority of their platformers can't touch DK:TF or Mario 3D World. Even their racers usually aren't anywhere near as good/fun as Mario Kart (Gran Turismo is actually the worst big-name racer on the market IMO). The plethora of JRPG's the PS4 will get will be staggering...yet most of them probably won't hold a candle to Xenoblade Chronicles X or Fire Emblem. WRPG's and Shooters are always better on PC anyway, so you'd be left only getting PS4 for the exclusives...which are not very diverse.
Playstation Allstars is the perfect final point to this argument too. Sony created a mediocre clone that people could cling to in claiming Sony consoles are the best through "diversity". I'd rather own two systems and get the truly best experience--Smash Bros. on Wii U and Shooters on PC--then settle for all the second-bests all in one place.
