Just to update everyone (as if you care). I played WiiTP for a while and decided to get TPHD. After selling the bundled Amiibo and WiiTP, TPHD will cost around/less than $15 out of pocket. Not bad I say.

I also just sold my Wii copy and was surprised to get 13.50 store credit. That cuts the already 48$ down for me. It was 2 different stores but it's all the same to me.

@Dreamliner: That depends on who you ask. Some people didn't like them while others thought they worked brilliantly. I'm one of those that loved the controls. As long as you don't go swinging wildly they work great and let's not even talk about TP tacked on motion controls. Skyward sword had the time to get them right.

@Dreamliner: Like @Spoony_Tech said, it depends on the person you ask. The motion controls debate was a very prominent one in the Wii era. One thing I can say for certain is don't make the same mistake I did if you plan on buying Skyward Sword. I asked for it for my birthday in April 2012, did get it (the game + soundtrack version) but i had no Wii MotionPlus so when I loaded up the game it didn't work. As a result, I spent a lot of my birthday trying to find Wii Remote Plus and towards the end only found a Wii Play Motion bundle.

It's almost time (again)!

I'm looking forward to the new gamepad controls more than anything, WWHD's controls were sublime.

I found motion controls in TP better than SS. Go figure.

Google Maps is now filled with even more Links than before!

My package moved a lot overnight, so unless the UPS van gets lost, I should have my copy sometime today!

@TheLastLugia: Let's be honest, you never took the people that complained about the game seriously, anyway.

Anyway, thanks for the write up. Glad to hear it has been streamlined a bit. Looking forward to seeing how I enjoy the game nearly a decade after playing it.

@Operative: well if they'd have waited for the game, or at the very least reviews, I would've had that much more respect for them. But I've come to accept now that expecting that is rather foolish, going off of last night's Direct announcements at least.

But yeah TPHD is just the definitive version of Twilight Princess. It's pretty much as simple as that.

@TheLastLugia: For me, it felt like the goats were much easier to catch than in the Wii version. I don't know if it was changed, or if it was just a user/controller issue on my part.

I only played a little bit of TP/Wii in Wii mode some year ago and then stopped, since it looked so terribly bad. TP:HD still looks like TP, but really sharp.

Also, the Gamepad management makes the game work soooo much better.
(Tip: you can zoom in on the Gamepad map and then drag it to see what's around the player. The map then auto-snaps back to Link.)

@Dreamliner: Put me down as another who enjoyed the motion controls of Skyward Sword. I think the game was a very unique experience and glad Nintendo did something different.

Anyway, got my copy of TP HD today. First game I have bought for my Wii U in a year though I wont get around to this for a little while. The whole package with amiibo looks very good.

I liked skyward sword too.

Except for those parts where you need to roll items like bomb flowers or baby molluscs. Rolling stuff precisely is hard enough, I don't need a time limit, game.

Chopping the bamboo was the worst for me.

Got my copy today. I found the one box that wasn't smashed by Best Buy's stupid security deal. What did I do when I got home, through the box away lol.

@Spoony_Tech: Haha... I know what you mean. I still have my WWHD box (with the figure still in it) but really, why? I guess they will look cool next to each other, maybe?

Yeah, the only issue I ever had with Skyward Sword's motion controls was the need to recalibrate every so often — honestly my only complaint with that game was Fi's characterization and implementation, until her very last moments, which were suddenly great. I'm of the opinion that the Zelda series has a pretty sterling track record so far (and, no, the licensed Philips CDi games don't count).

And I also echo the gyro aiming talk in this thread — it feels so good and natural to tilt to aim after Splatoon. A little off-topic, but I played the Lovely Planet demo during E3 and loved the game itself, but it's a first-person shooter (light on the shooter) that's limited to dual analog controls. I felt like I was trying to do ballet in a sea of molasses.

Anyway, hope folks keep the Twilight Princess HD impressions coming, I'm enjoying the reads.
