I'm probably alone in this, but I want the 'flat' world back. Or at least the option to make the world flat. Oh, and bring back real holidays. What the heck, bring back the NES games, or maybe have a VC connection so you can play other classic systems in game.
And one more thing... Animal Crossing games need to stop punishing gamers who can't play the game 24-7. Seeing a villager leave because you was too busy in your real life is a terrible feeling.
It's funny because if you play a lot you get punished by having your town turn into dirt from walking around on the grass. :/

I think the a very cool thing to include would be a city... NOT LIKE THE ONE THEY HAVE NOW!
Imagine a big city like NYC that you could take a taxi
eat at a Pizza Hut
Go to a Nintendo world store to buy virtual nintendo products
they could even incorporate YouTube for a movie theater!
What about adopting a pet alien?! (Since the villagers are animals)
buy ice skates to ski in the winter
What about when you buy a virtual console game on eshop, you get that game in your characters house! Just like on GameCube!
Even incorporate some storms, power goes out across town, tornado's coming, everyone has to go with Isabelle to an underground shelter.
One of your villagers got caught stealing from you... He must go to prison for a week!
Anyway those are my ideas...
This I would love this. Also that galaxy idea is sweet! Even if Nintendo doesn't do anything truly unique I'd still LOVE an Animal Crossing on Wii U
Expandable towns, where you hire Resetti to expand the borders for amounts of bells is what I want. It would add a bit of decision making and planning to the game, and really reward you for doing things.
Also, the ability to buy grass seed. kinda random but would be much appreciated.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I want some sort of grid (?) to let me know exactly where I can put public work projects or where I can't put them. Letting me know how many squares each item would take also would make it much more convenient for me to plan out where I want to put certain projects. The touchscreen on the gamepad would be perfect for showing the little squares and placing projects down conveniently and the TV screen can show how it would look or something. I don't know why they didn't do that with the 3DS. :T It drove me crazy having to talk to Isabelle over and over to find the right spot and having to go through her long explanation of how many spaces there has to be each time. Gah! Or at least the ability to use the analog stick or gamepad (holding it up and moving it around lol.. I don't know. @_@) to let you view a bit more of the surrounding area and zooming in/out to see if it's placed where you want it before making your final decision. :T
Animal Crossing Galaxy? I remember making up some stuff for that like 5 years ago, there was a whole city planet with 2 moons that held Redd's shop and Katrinas tent.
I think the series needs a change of pace so it feels new, maybe make it more fast paced and busy like, the city could have a pretty complex layout and such.
Also it should be on a handheld because yeah.
EDIT: I put more thought into a time-traveling animal crossing game where there were 5 periods you could travel to, each with their special features. Like the future themed one was all indoors in an artificial biosphere and the ground was all grey tile with designated places for fauna. Also each house had a greenhouse attached to it and there were 2 yearly field trips hosted by Pelly that showed the inner working of the town (Like the machine that makes balloon presents and such) of course you'd get a model as a prize at the end. Also you could get your fortune told at any time because Katrina had installed hologram fortune telling machines conveniently.
Seeing as how AC New Leaf sold like crazy, I'm gonna guess Nintendo don't do much to mess with what's currently there, especially since they're probably gonna try to connect the two games somehow.
For the next AC installment, I think there should be an Arcade public works project. After funding and building it, the Arcade could be a virtual hub into the user's own personal VC collection on their Wii U, allowing them to play their games directly from within Animal Crossing.
In the original Gamecube AC game, I created a 2nd player and turned his house into something of a gaming room.
Also, I would like to see real time weather events in the next AC game. Animal Crossing already utilizes real time in it's games, might as well have an option that uses the internet to determine real time weather. If it's raining wherever you live in real life, it will be raining in your game. Snowing IRL? Snow in the game...etc.
Of course, this could be an option that gets turned Off when booting up the game each time.
The problem with the "real world weather" thing is that if you live in somewhere like Australia you'll never get snow. Speaking off, it's incredibly odd playing this game in the Southern Hemisphere. Hottest day of the year and you turn on the game to see snow. Not sure if I think that's an awesome thing or not because it is kinda nice to see snow in your game when you want to escape from the heat!

it's only natural to assume Nintendo will be pursuing the possibilities of releasing another Animal Crossing of such likeness onto the Nintendo Wii U.
Yes, with no additional gameplay altering changes or added content. Even with the Wii U's marginally stronger hardware.
Here are some things I'd like to see added (but we will never see):
Caves
This is a big one. Let us explore caves with pickaxes and flashlights. I want to explore more than my backyard and Tom Nook's shop. Gathering minerals with friends would be awesome. And notice I said 'caves' not 'cave'. I do not want to explore some small area over and over again. Free downloadable content of some kind would be ideal.
Make the town even bigger
This is not a 2001 N64 franchise anymore, Nintendo, let there be mass! I'm sick of counting to fifteen and reaching the other side of my village by the time the counting ends. Not overwhelmingly large by large enough to be oh, I don't know, large?
Let us have more control as mayor
I don't care if Resetti thinks I'm a dictator, just let me control my town. If there's one glaring issue with New Leaf, it's that villagers can move in just about anywhere. This includes destroying flowerbeds, bushes and (fruit) trees. Let alone they move so close to me. Or move out when there's an awesome cul de sac going on. I'm sick of putting projects in place of where they once lived to avoid another villager from moving there again. And the dirt!
Autosaving and multiple town datas
This can applied to Pokemon as well. No Nintendo, there's no excuse for not having one of the most basic features in gaming in your games. I'm not going out and buying another copy of New Leaf just to have a second town. Heck, 1987's Legend of Zelda has more save data slots than Animal Crossing and Pokemon.
Those are most of my recommendations for the next Animal Crossing.
Just a thought... What if Nintendo charged a monthly fee for playing Animal Crossing U and used it to develop new content for the game. Would that be ok with you?
