I seriously doubt exclusive characters will happen. I personally feel that Ice Climbers will only happen if they can get them to work on the 3DS. Until then, they won't happen. There are other veterans that can come back though. There's still Wolf, Snake, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Young Link, and Pichu. I'm positive we'll get Wolf later this year, but not in August. We'll probably get Wolf in October/November.
When August rolls around, I have a feeling that we might be seeing more stages at the very least announced. Probably some from Melee.

Four-Side! Four-Side!
This. As far as fighters go, I think we'll see the next one in September/October, and then in November/December. That's for pre-ballot ones too. I don't expect ballot characters until 2016.

Shrek confirmed, 2016 (I'm so sorry...).
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...
I'm kinda getting sick of the clones. Lucas, Ganondorf, Falco and Roy I get, but everyone else including; Dark Pit, Dr. Mario, Lucina, and Wolf's semi Fox play, if they ever add him, is really unnecessary. I feel it's honestly wasting space and time. It's getting to he point where everyone is trying to be a Marth-alike, or be like Fox with their own personality.
Wavedashes behind you Got some of dat Maylay?

The 3DS version has been holding back the Wii U version since day freaking one. I don't hate the 3DS version of Smash but I think its done more harm than good. Especially regarding sales, Ice Climbers, and content. That's just my personal opinion, though.

Lucas, Ganondorf, Falco, Roy and Wolf aren't clones. They're varients. They have similarities to other characters, but otherwise are very different. Dr. Mario, Lucina and Pittoo were going to be alts for Mario, Marth and Pit, but they decided to make them full characters because it would barely take any amount of time, meaning they're freebies. They didn't take away any time, effort or space that could've been used on another character. Can we PLEASE not have the same conversation every week in this thread? I'm getting pretty sick of this.

Dark Pit, Dr. Mario, and Lucina were all costumes that were given minor variations from their predecessors. They cost maybe a few days in dev time, each, and being removed, wouldn't even make enough extra time to make a variant character happen.
As for Wolf? There's no semi-anything there. He plays absolutely nothing like Fox or even close to it. Their playstyles aren't even remotely similar, their standard attacks don't even LOOK the same, let alone function the same. Wolf's game is based primarily on approach, juggling, and maximizing hitstun. Seriously, if you've ever watch a competitive Wolf player, their goal is essentially not to give their opponent a chance to fight back. His specials are a very minimal part of his play style due to them being heavily situational. You can't laser spam with Wolf like you can with Fox because his laser is too slow, too short-ranged, and is really intended as a double-hit on zero range, rather than a spacing move. The hitstun isn't long enough to make an actual approach. The reflectors don't even function the same. The up-B isn't a recovery, it's an attack. The side-B isn't an attack, it's a recovery. Even Wolf's tank is different enough to write a short paragraph on (the main difference being that it's WAY more deadly, but doesn't last long enough to get two kills on a smart player).
Seriously, I'm just tired of people calling Wolf a clone. He's literally the least cloney clone in the entire series. Ganondorf is more of a clone than Wolf. Falco is way more of a clone than Wolf. Lucas is the only clone character that comes close to Wolf's non-cloneyness. And do you want the strongest proof of all? As a Wolf player, I could not and still can't play Fox to save my life. If they were clones, I'd be able to play them interchangeably with a slight paradigm shift, but that's not how it works at all. Fox is almost as foreign to me as Ness.
I don't think Wolf is a clone but I think Ganondorf plays more differently to Captain Falcon than Wolf to Fox...
It really doesn't get much different than in-your-face and hit-and-run. Besides, I find most Ganondorf players have little to no trouble picking up Falcon while Fox and Wolf players often wind up viewing the other character as completely worthless. The main difference you have to account for with Ganondorf is that moves will be slower, so their moves will have different uses despite most of them using the same animations and hitboxes, just with different stats on them. (VERY different stats, in this case.)
The reason Fox and Wolf are less cloney is because nothing matches. Not the animations, hitboxes, stats such as knockback, hitstun, damage, and the like, or really anything but the vaguest idea of a moveset. Their specials, which are the only similar parts of them, don't even act the same. Don't believe me? Go back to Brawl and play a little bit of both. I bet you'll find yourself using Wolf's specials a lot less and relishing the moments when they're actually useful. I also bet you'll find most of your Fox-based strats don't work so well for Wolf and vice versa and then play some Ganondorf and Falcon and see if the same holds true.
What I'm saying is that from the player's perspective, Wolf and Fox don't even feel like clones at all, but Ganondorf and Falcon undeniably have a very similar feel, even if one of those requires more patience and forethought than the other. This is less the case in Smash 4, but we'll see how it stacks up when (if) Wolf gets added back in.
Not sire how serious you are or aren't being, but Project M being an unofficial Brawl mod doesn't really count, since they can (and do) change the clones to be less cloney and more representative of their own selves. We're only concerned with Sakurai's titles, as thise are the ones relevant to clones introduced in Sakurai's games.

my comment about Project M was entirely unrelated to the clone talk. my point was that nobody should ever go back to Brawl, you should play PM instead. unless you're bad at smash...

Or you live somewhere where project m is unsupported... Or you enjoy fun.

Nah, I can't really comment there. Was never a fan of project M. It's impressive, but not my thing. Besides, Brawl had plenty of upsides to it. I just can't go back to it because of the lag. Don't know why it didn't bother me back then, but that lag kills the game for me, now.
Really loving the DLC so far! I just wish Canadian prices weren't so expensive since I didn't have enough to buy anything else like the Dreamland stage or the Inkling costumes after buying Ryu, Roy, and Lucas. I was using a $20 eshop card if you were wondering how much I had.
I've been wondering if I should just get the whole bundle or just the fighters/stages.... they are pricey, especially considering how much you got for $11.99 on MK8. Deal is, I play both SSB version quite a bit, so this might be worth it. They should give you a price break if you buy the whole bundle....
I just got Project M 3.6. I'll talk about some of the things I really liked about it.
I really love the changes made to the new all-star mode. Let's say if you select Mario, then you select Bowser and start the match. You'll start the match as Mario, but if you lose your stock, you'll switch over to Bowser. It's extremely cool, and it's probably going to be my preferred way of playing the game.
They also added alt stages. Wario Ware Inc. in Project M removes the mini-games. However, if you hold down the L button while selecting the stage, you'll get the version with the mini-games. Speaking of Wario, they've added Wario-Man as a playable character (you can plays as him while holding down L on the CSS). He's extremely broken, but very fun, especially on turbo mode.
It impress me how they keep making the game more and more fun with each update. It's fun both competitively and casually, so there's really nothing to hate about it. It's just an overall blast.
