Why get the inferior game for your Wii U just to expand the library? This is a mind-boggling thread as Splatoon 2 is a clear improvement over the first entry, if you have a Switch then don't limit yourself to the infinitely smaller user base of the Wii U version. If there are any players still playing, chances are if you are new to the series then your skill level in comparison will be far from a match.
Splatoon 1 will remain as one of the Wii U's most active communities still going, tho it's not as active as it once was since most have moved on to Splatoon 2, as well as Splatoon 2 outselling Splatoon 1 due to it being on the Switch, so the playerbase has already surpassed the original.
Also, you can't play online or the story without the gamepad as it's needed to rev up specials and also displays the map. Pro controller is only used for player 2 in a local multiplayer mode.
With it's many improvements and other additions, it would be better to get Splatoon 2 over 1. If you find Splatoon 1 for a good price somewhere, would still be good to get for adding to your Wii U library since Splatoon 1 still offers features which didn't return to Splatoon 2, such as the more destructive specials and maps.
I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!
I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!
I got it for $10 with a $1 warranty. That’s how unpopular it is. And that’s sad. Killer Wail was my favorite special. I wish it would come back in 2. Wait... Princess Cannon.
