Wow, this time the lag was real.
Several times I destroy an enemy, especially the rollers, 1-2 seconds later I get destroyed from that person. As if we killed us at the same time... Was a little anoying.
It's probably the server, not the game's fault. It was the right time where Europe and NA at the same time. Many trafic.
I have to say this is a lot of fun. I probably get it to fill the gap between now and Woolly World.
Anyone who thinks the roller is OP needs to learn how to play the game better.
Basically, git gud. Seems convincing.
When the alternative is sitting around complaining that it's OP? Yeah, git gud.
That doesn't really convince me to assume something isn't too much just because you pretty much called everybody with a similar opinion terrible at the game (fyi, I've been the one using the roller for the most part, it was my primary weapon since nothing else really sastified me... like I said, it's kinda the noob weapon that's easy to get used too quickly while being very effective. I can only imagine how actually good players can abuse the already above adverage roller if a noob can utilize it really well.)
It's only just in comparison, it's TOO effective from the other weapon by a small ammount. It's not annoying, it's not broken, it's not overly overpowered, it's just better then the rest, which isn't necessarly bad, but a tiny bit unbalanced. But I think it really boils down to the overall skill level of the roller user, and the roller opponent as well as the gamemode where it is much more effective in turf war then anything. I never really encountered a problem with being shot from above since I'd just squid backwards and then roll elsewhere or wait for the opponent to drop down and surprise them. Being shot down in a narrow path did make life a bit harder as a roller, but by that point I already coveraged more turf to simply come back and finish the job.
Do I think it needs nerfed? Not really... do I think it's still unbalanced? Too a degree, in this current stage of development between the skill level of players, most definitly.
Funny you said that...it was much better for me this time. I only had one laggy match, compared to three or four last night.
Interesting, I didn't have one laggy match at all in the two sessions I played. I did get kicked out once in the first session, but that was the only hiccup. Everything was as smooth as if it were local multi. And there were several people from Japan on my games, as well.
Out of curiosity, are you guys using Wi-Fi or a wired LAN adapter? I'm using the latter.
Mine's Wi-Fi. I'm close enough to my modem that I could use a wire...maybe it's worth doing that before the release.
Played the demo, absolutely loved it. My only gripe is that you HAVE TO use the gyroscope to move the camera in the Y-axis. Which is utter and complete B*llsh!t. I hope the final release gives player the option to control the camera entirely using the analog stick.
Apart that the camera control, the game is excellent. In a world where shooters are so saturated, Nintendo managed to dish out something unique and fresh. Can't wait to get my hands on the retail copy.
Didn`t know you could turn off the motion controls, would of been nice to know.
My question is how many people is paying more for the amiibo`s to access the locked on disc content, gonna be a expensive game for a few so you better make it last!
If anything is OP it's not the roller, it's the Bubbler
The fact that you're invincible, get to hold onto it and that your teammates around you also get the buff makes it seem a bit over powered
So far all the other special weapons are just a little extra power but if you're skilled enough you don't need any extra power so that extra defense is a huge advantage

Ahhhh, so that's how that works. I had no idea why players without Bubbler still got a bubble. Good to know.
I played the last two testfire sessions and thought they were pure fun, fun, fun! The game is brilliant in its fast-paced, chaotic, colorful nature. This will be a day one purchase for me. I'm dying to play the other modes and customize my character a bit.
For anyone who may have played against me, I was Timothy (though my sister and I were taking turns playing, so it might not have actually been me).

Eagerly anticipating: Zelda U and the hopeful announcements of Animal Crossing U and Paper Mario U.
My first session was perfectly fine. The second ... At last half of my game was laggy.-- Ink of my enemy didn't appear on the ground although he was shoting. Suddenly dying as explained earlier. Disconects... 2v4 or 3v4 two games long.
For such things is that stress test here... So I don't complain. As long as they fix it.^^

It kinda is in a way, but it's mainly effective near teammates and up close to an enemy. Still though. that's all I used during all the Testfire sessions and I won so much. I think for every 5 to 8 wins, there's 1 loss. I basically dominated more than 3/4 of my matches using the Bubbler. The only way to fight against the Bubbler is basically to run away. If you're opponent has a trail behind them, they can run and the Bubbler becomes kinda of a waste.

Mario Kart 8 + All DLC
Mario Golf: World Tour + All DLC
Mario Kart 7

It will take time for me to get used to the controls. I've never played a game which actively uses both analogue sticks, and I find it extremely awkward. But I really enjoyed the demo hour, and was surprised when I suddenly got the error message. It felt like I had played for half an hour at the most. I had lots of fun, and will definitely be getting it day one, especially with such a low price!

The only thinng is that the bubbler is very situational and the few times your teammates do use it.. your roller is across the map mopping up the unoccupied locations. I always tried to play lone wolf as a roller as it covered more ground being split up at one part of the map, while my teamates were at the other preventing players from pushing forward.
A bubbled roller is certainly terrifying, but it doesn't last long enough to be as terrifying as say.. an ubercharged pyro in tf2 for example.
After getting into 2 events of Splatoon madness, this game has become a must-buy for me. I've really gotten the hang of it, and I'll tell you what I know about the weapons based on my testing:
Splatter: a gun with moderate firepower and firing rate. It's good for both offense and defense.
Splatter Jr. : A mini version of Splatter. Has less firepower than the regular Splatter, but has faster firing rate. Good for those who want to quickly ink the turf. Good for offense.
Splat Charger: A rifle that's capable of one-hit shot at opponent when fully charged at moderate range. It has low firing rate. Good for defense.
Splat Roller: A close range weapon that's able to cover an area quicker than other weapon. Also it's able to easily flatten opponent. You can spray ink with it, but it has a very short range. Good for offense.
So there you have it. I'm thinking whether to buy it digitally or physically. Oh, decision, decision...
Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.
