I knew I shouldn't have attempted rainmaker today even though I did decently well in squads... It's my worst mode so I think I only won 2 matches while I lost 5 or 6.
Currently at S 70.
@yokokazuo Congrats! The road to S+ is a tough journey since the outcome of the matches are determined by 50% skill and 50% luck since the partners you get are random and can determine the results of the match (for better or worse).
The actual challenge is trying to maintain your rank since most of the players in S+ are really good, for the most part I've been able to balance it pretty good. Though I did really terrible the last time I played so I'm probably gonna be stuck with regular S Rank for a while the next time I decide to play daily lol.
@Iggly thanks! I had gotten several straight wins up to 96, but then I lost a match, got up to 98, lost another haha. And then I got to 99 and finally won my next match. Kind of want to make it to S+99, but I'm currently satisfied with making it into S+. I'm hoping that I will at least be able to maintain my S+ rank, maybe for awhile at least.
My main goal these past few days was to make it to S+ before I reached level 50 so I'm happy with that.
@yokokazuo: Congrats as I know that's quite an accomplishment. I more then happy with my S ranking as I'll never see S+ but I'm ok with that.
As for this game, it's been a great run and I'll play it from time to time and still love it but I've moved on. There's just so much else to play and I more then got my use out of this. If I do see someone looking for a team up though and I'm available I may still hop on. Over 300 hours and I'm not even that interested in Splatfest anymore. This may be the first one I miss.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

Thanks everyone!
When I first got to S rank, I would have never imagined I could make it to S+. I could usually fall out of S easily and if I was lucky I could make it to S 50. Recently I had been wanting to make it to S+ though so I had been trying to find ways to improve more by watching videos of other S+ charger users and I have also been more focused on abilities that go well with the weapons I use. I really do think I've improved more these past few weeks, I've learned more things like peeking (just barely going around a corner from the right side to shoot. I've done this a little bit before, but now I'm using it more often) and my current abilities help me out quite a bit. I have 2 strength ups which help reduce my charging time to about 75% to get a kill, cold blooded so I can lose being marked by echolocator quickly, 6 quicksuperjump subs so that I can jump to my beakon or to someone quickly when I run into trouble as well as 3 ink refill subs to help me recharge ink a bit faster.
Are there competitive Splatoon events? E-Sports Splatoon events? I haven't heard of any but I feel like it is a game that could be great in a competitive setting.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
@DefHalan on squid boards they usually host several tournaments. I haven't been in any myself, but I believe that @Jazzer94 usually participates in some with his squad.
@yokokazuo: I just searched what ledge peeking means, and I just found out I do the exact same thing all the time (even since when I got Splatoon)! I mean, I think the skill's pretty obvious. The chances of you not getting splatted is reduced if you "peek" at the enemy instead of just standing on the ledge and taking out the enemy. Glad to know it's an actual skill
EDIT: I just found out that there's even more to peeking that it looks (that I didn't even realize). For example, you can use sub weapons to create pressure on your enemies, and blasters somehow become one-shots when peeking at an enemy. Crazy stuff!
@Vee_Flames oh I hadn't really thought about ledge peeking. What I meant was that when aiming with a charger at a corner, you can "peek" from the right side which will only expose a tiny part of you while you can get a clear shot at someone you are aiming at.
I guess it is actually called right peeking.
@Vee_Flames Yeah, and with ledge-peeking, if you time it right with a roller, you can slip off in squidform and hit a foe beneath without exposing yourself to chargerfire. Chargerfire is still my main problem tho. Every time I get better, the chargers just keep getting better to snipe me. XD
I've learnt you can also use the regular splat bombs while ledgepeeking, at the expense of some vertical range.
@YokoKazuo I'm familiar with corner peeking, particularly on Hammerhead, where I get sniped left, right and centre...
Wow, what an epic match! Splatoon is really missing a replay function, I got to get a capture card soon!
This was the scenario:
Rainmaker, Moray Towers.
While I was respawning, the enemy team were quickly approaching the goal. I jumped down and was able to splat the RM-carry mid-air, just when he was about to jump on the pole. So they were leading with 4 points to go.
Next thing I did was grabbing the rainmaker and carrying it forward piece by piece, just like football, with 3-4 'stations" where I was splatted each time but my team held their ground, so I was able to jump there and takeover the RM again every time (apparently no one else was gonna do it).
At the last stretch, at the point near the enemy pole where you can just swim up the wall, one of my teammates turned into the kraken and I quickly followed him to reach the pole. He got splatted, I made it a few more centimeters and got splatted mid-air, right in front of the pole, with 3 points to go.
There were about 50 seconds left and we easily defended our tight lead on that big map that is Moray Towers.
Truly a great team effort.

Yes there are, just a few weeks ago there was a big Splatournament where the Splatoon producer came on stage and thanked everybody, almost crying, and said that maybe there will be more content updates.
NL even wrote an article about it.
Last year Nintendo announced a tournament with a 1 million $ winning prize, I don't whether it was the recent one in Japan or another one though.
