@Waveboy @unrandomsam You are missing my point, its not perfect for any single type of game but its serviceable for most types of games unlike Nintendo controllers who tend to be very good for a few games and totally useless for others

@Geonjaha So true. The people that accuse Sony and MS of rehashing ideas are probably going to ignore anything new from Nintendo in favour of Yarn Yoshi, SNES Remix and Super Peach U. At this point I am very grateful for X and Bayonetta.

This biggest problem with Sony's conference is that every single highlight of the conference is multiplat. Their big opening was actually a game available even on last gen systems. Sony completely failed to prove why you want to get specifically a PS4.

lol littlebigplanet, uncharted, and ratchet and clank are third party duh. I bet they're all coming to the wii u and all their characters are going to be in smash bros.

To be fair, Ratchet and Clank is is in the same void as EA"s werid hey looks it nothing announcements. I think the main problem is that Microsoft showed alot of stuff coming this year and played to thier fanbase or lapsed dudes like me with beta's and stuff.

Honestly speaking Brian Michael Bendis and Power's shouldn't have been on Sony's stage. Sony spent 10 minutes with him talking about concept art. However in the last two weeks microsoft showed off tangible non gaming stuff and what's upcoming.

Like I said i'd give Sony a C- and Microsoft a B+ to be honest.

Also I felt sony sort of screwed up at times by going with a CG trailer for Bloodborne when we know the game is a ready to show state, I'm guessing they on't want another The Order Debacle.

WAT!

Quite enjoying this controller debate but finding myself in disagreement with most of it!

I feel like the Wiimote (and Nunchuk where applicable) was made to work with almost every genre at one point or another in the Wii's lifetime (except driving because the Wii Wheel was never good enough for a proper racing game and Wiimote and nunchuk is not as good as the classic controller). As usual I see that nobody respects EA's use of Nintendo hardware despite EA making more use of motion controls (and motion plus) in proper games than Nintendo ever did. Godfather Black Hand was very well done on Wii, MOH:H2 was the first FPS with decent full wiimote controls, Grand Slam Tennis was excellent, Tiger Woods Wii has yet to be surpassed. Even FIFA had some excellent pointer features on Wii..

The way I see it is; if you played 30 or so decent Wii games in the last generation and didn't find a single example of motion controls being a drastic improvement in gameplay, you were doing something wrong or just in fanboy denial. Same as if you think the Wii didn't miss out on any games in the last generation.

Most of the people on the site would follow Nintendo if they jumped off a cliff so it's not worth talking about how Sony had a strong conference.

Have fun with your predictable Direct tomorrow.

Bitter much? I mean lets be honest here, Sony had a strong start and a strong end to their show. Most of the content however was filler, remake or multi-platform titles. The stuff that was new wasn't that unexpected.

No they didn't. They opened with a game coming to last and current gen consoles that brings almost zero incentive to get a PS4. Then what looks like a flash game, then an underwhelming LBP3 demo.

The best part of the conference came about a third in when the new exclusives started to get revealed, but even then they completely failed to convey exactly what the games were and what they involved. In other words, they teased brand new IPs.

Plus, zero innovation based on the way you play game controller wise. No move support, no mention of the Dual shock's touch pad, it's just more twin stick wiggling traditional controls with familiar experiences that could of been whipped up on the PS3 and even PS2 yet with higher end visuals. Aren't people growing tired of pretty much playing the same sh** and using the same controller that's been regurgitated since 1997 with tiny little alterations each generation?

For the most part, prettier visuals just aren't enough for me anymore.
I really wanted to see sony's new VR glasses/helmet in use with the move controller...That's the future of the first and 3rd person genre. Not wiggling your thumbs on a couple of clunky sticks.

Also, i found it hard to tell apart some of these games.....they're very Similar in art direction, since most of them were aiming for pure realism and with that, Art style no longer exists. It must be an absolute bore making these types of games, striving for the most realistic visuals ect.

Sunset overdrive stood out, not only because of it's acid trip color scheme, wild concoction based weapons and whacky monsters, but because it had it's own art style. It's easily one of the biggest stand outs of the XBOX/PS4 litter.

What, you're disappointed Sony didn't incorporate blowing on the controller with any of their exclusives? I actually like that Sony is opting to focus attention on THE GAMES, not stupid peripheral crap that Nintendo has been obsessed with for the past decade.

You've betrayed us all. Leave and never return. We don't want you here.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

Its amazing how many people don't care about the exact games that aren't coming to the Wii U, and don't care about anything the Wii U cant do.
If I didn't know any better I'd say this is just all about the name of the company! /s

Ha, so true.

Microsoft did a good job at showing what the Bone is gonna have, but I still don't feel that it's worth $400.
Sony was boring and nothing really stood out for PS4 other that (the inevitable) LBP3.

Nintendo as a great opportunity to blow everyone away today, they just gotta do it right and bring something big.

Yeah, those were more or less my thoughts too. I like what the XBO has coming to it, but it's still big, it's still ugly, and it's still $400. Maybe if they do a PS-esque slim model and price drop, I'll pick one up.

@WaveBoy But innovation in video games doesn't just come from wacky control schemes. There are all sorts of innovative games being made today without any of them featuring "shake the controller like a demented chimpanzee" or "look at the TV screen, now look at the controller screen, now back up at the TV screen" for no logical reason. In my opinion, the games with the best controls are the ones where you never notice the controls, the ones where no one ever talks about the controls. For me, that's what video game controls should be. Back in the day (NES, SNES, GB) Nintendo knew that the controller was just the conduit to play the game, nowadays it seems that they try and make the controller the main-event itself.

Nintendo fans talking about games being too similar... lmao

Yeah waggle controls and a second screen really fundamentally changed Mario games

Are you honestly saying that Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario 3D World aren't radically different games? Because if you are...

What do you think

Pointing at star bits and waggling the controller didn't make Galaxy a radically different game than other Mario games. If you enjoyed pointing at star bits that much, awesome. I'm glad you enjoy the little things in life

Don't feed @AlexSays, he/she is just an upset person looking for an outlet.

The Sony conference, for me, was pretty cool, though not absolutely stellar. I've been thinking about buying a PS3 for Uncharted/Last of Us (and some other exclusives), but now I just may get a PS4 down the line with the Now program or whatever that is. Although the more I look at it, it seems Now is just a rental program ... does anybody know more about that? At any rate, it seems Nintendo does have some aces up their sleeve this time around, and I hope all of the three big consoles have a good year ahead of them.

Why does defending Sony from the idiots on this site make me hate Nintendo?
