This morning i received several emails from amazon as im sure many of you did too. It was informing me that nearly all of the pre-order wiiu titles have now been cancelled from Amazon, namely Kirby, Splatoon, Starfox and mario v.s Donkey kong. I pre-ordered pretty much all the games immediately after E3 so i assumed that maybe there was a maximum time limit to which they could be held as pre-order and assumed i could just re-do them. But none of these games are now listed and Amazon said i might be able to source them elsewhere. What is going on here?? Kirby is due for release in a matter of weeks and mario vs Dk in march.
The game had already been announced, but they didn't say it was just an eshop release until the last Direct. Many shops still offer it as pre-order to this day though.
Kirby and Splatoon seem to still be available on Amazon.com, but not uk. Mario Party 10 is also listed as unavailable on the uk shop. Starfox is currently listed as unavailable on both. They have some strange things going on.
You must be in the states, Amazon U.K site has removed nearly all of the pre-orders, Zelda is still valid but pretty much all others are no longer available, Stranger still there is now a listing for the physical release of NES remix even though its not getting released here.
I find it very strange that Kirby is not available when its out in just a few weeks time.

Kirby is not out in a few weeks time in the UK, only for NoA.

Yes, Europe has to wait at least 5 more months for Kirby.
Here's a novel idea: Don't preorder games. It's meaningless and stupid. That's what you wanted to hear, right?
It is neither of these things but thanks for your input, pre-ordering in some cases allows developers to gauge exactly what amounts to produce.
It is pretty much meaningless. Unless they're offering some bonus for preorders, the chances of a game being sold out everywhere at release are pretty tiny.
It's stupid because you're rewarding a developer for just creating hype (and occasionally lying in the process), not for creating a good game.
You're of course welcome to disagree. But I just see preorders as rewarding whoever can best manipulate me. (I see games like Destiny and Watchdogs as essentially hugely successful con jobs) I'd rather reward who makes the best game. (and all that marketing stuff can easily be got from twitter nowadays. It's trivial to gauge the popularity of something and multiply it by some magic constant to get a rough expected sales figure.)

And you if you don't pre-order you usually get a much better price for the game too. I only pre-order special editions that I suspect might be sold in low quantities, like the First Print Edition of Bayonetta 2.
