I don't know why people say or think they removed the caves/dungeons as they're in there just treated differently. Time still moves as it should and from my play through experience there was quite a few areas in the game that had caves. The whole last area was a cave for crying out loud! I don't mind one bit how they were used here over the last one!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
When they say they loved the dungeons, they probably mean the challenge associated with them along with the random generation. Even though time stood still, each floor was self contained and you couldn't run back out if you needed more pikmin. It was fun to try and keep all your pikmin alive, not to mention challenging
The co-op is almost identical as the 3 single-player mission modes (collecting treasures/killing enemies/beating bosses). I think the only difference between single and co-op missions is that the total number of available astronauts can differ on some missions. The 2 players in co-op splits the screen left/right. At least one of the player needs a wiimote+nunchuck. Single and co-op missions have different high score lists.
To get platinum on a mission, you really need to co-op well (such as keeping to a strategy, borrow pikmins between astronauts at the right moment, etc).
At home, we play co-op with 2 wiimote+nunchuck and place the gamepad on the stand betweepn us, so we both can see the map. When we play Bingo Battle against each other, noone is allowed to see the map.
''At the same time, we have also prepared a demo version of “Pikmin 3” so anyone who hasn’t played Pikmin can experience its unique joy. Continually launching campaigns after the release of software will lay the groundwork for the next iteration of “Pikmin” in the future.''
Pikmin 4 is coming some day. I'm already looking forward to that day.
Has anyone downloaded the Pikmin 3 demo? What does it contain? I heard that the save files are transferrable to the main game, so is the demo start of the single-player campaign? Does it contain any of the missions/co-op/bingo battle modes?
Finally got to play the Pikmin 3 demo. That was...quite a fun demo actually! Wasn't a big fan of the original back in the day when I tried it, but maybe I should buy this third one after all?

If you're asking for opinions then I will still say it's my favorite Wii U game and I own about 25 games. Its even more fun with someone to multi play with.

Multiplayer is great and the enhanced graphics are a real boon. I think Pikmin 3 is a great entry in the series and I do plan to replay it at some point (still haven't finished the challenges in this or Pikmin 2).

Multiplayer is the wrong name. It is a two-player mode and in my opinion the best in the last years. There are great Co-Op missions where you have to communicate and play together. And the battle mode is even more fun. No Online-Game can transfer the fun and fury a real person on the couch is feeling while you are playing bad or are ruining his victory.
The mission mode really kept me returning to this game a lot. The co-op is fantastic and the dlc levels are great. I still just have to complete the last mission on platinum. Pikmin 4 pls!

I know Pikmin 3 has been out for a while, but I only just started playing this game. I'm having a great time. Since this game was released, it has received an update to enable "stylus controls". Basically, you use the gamepad touchscreen like a touchpad on laptops. I understand from reading prior threads that the wiimote was the preferred controller for this game before this update. The stylus method is now the default, so that I what I started with.
So my question for you Pikmin pros is: what is your preferred control method now, and why?
