So... New Super Mario Bros. is based off of a series and that makes it so the developers can't do something new with it? Woah.

@GamecubeMan Donkey Kong Country Returns replaced the enemies with a whole new set of enemies. That's based on the original DKC series. That would be like a Super Mario Bros. game without goombas, koopa troopas or even Bowser.

i wasnt talking about DKCR...... besides that a completly different publisher for Nintendo located in Texas while the other is somewhere else in the world. By the way Retro Studios has my faith in publishing Retro games.... just saying

You said a series cannot change and I mentioned a series that changed. Both are published by Nintendo, by the way. And Retro is wholly owned by Nintendo and Miyamoto himself looks over the projects that Retro make.

Although what you said is true about me saying a series cant change.... in an Iwata asks session Iwata asks. One of the NSMBU developers mentioned that Miyamato told the developers of NSMBW that he didnt really like the toad multiplayer thing.... I can post the video if u want.... I also plaid all of the NSMB games even DKCR's if u think im just judging by my common sense only. I really liked the gameplay/graphics though.....

Well, I might as well say what's on my mind about this game.

Pros:

The graphics at least don't look like they're ripped straight from NSMB1 (in other words, it doesn't look like a DS game).

The game looks like it's introducing (or reintroducing) some interesting things (Giant Goombas, Baby Yoshis, new suit, etc.).

I shouldn't have to be forced to use motion controls since I can use the Wii U controller.

It looks more interesting than NSMB2, to be honest.

This will be the first home console Mario game to be available at launch since Super Mario 64, which is a (hopefully) good omen.

Cons:

No online multiplayer.

No level editor.

The fact that this is coming out just a few months after NSMB2.

I wanted to see a new 3D Mario game released during the Wii U's launch, not this sh*t.

It seriously looks like the same game I've seen two (and probably soon three) times before, but I hope Nintendo proves me wrong.

Everything else.

Seriously Nintendo, you're acting insane by releasing all these Mario games. The last time I felt like a Mario game blew me away was Super Mario Galaxy 2. They need to quit releasing so many Mario games in such a short period of time, or they're going to make the franchise as dull as Sonic was during his darkest hours.

I'm sure that I'll buy it, but I highly doubt it will be at launch because I'm probably not going to be buying a Wii U at launch. I'll likely buy it at an used price just for the sake of saving money and sending the message to Nintendo that they need to quit screwing with us with this rehashed series. There is certainly nothing ''new'' about the series.

I'm actually excited about this game. Looks a lot better than NSMB.2 in pretty much every way possible. I'm picking it up on release day, probably as my only launch title. Can't wait

Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

Hopefully the make this one more challenging than NSMBW, that on was challenging but I want this one to be more challenging.

Maybe we could have some special worlds after you beat the game like Super Mario 3D Land? Reuse levels from the original worlds but change them up a bit and make it harder. But also throw in new, original, insanely difficult levels.

[/div]

I sure hope so. I find these games to be pretty easy, so more challenge is good for me. Although I'd like something more difficult then 3D Land's optional stuff, since I blazed through everything that game offered in less then 20 hours.
If for some reason they don't do that, I'd love to see a level editor so I can play some user created stuff that does make me blow a casket.

There is still a huge fanbase for the NSMB series. I've been wanting Nintendo to continue the series ever since Super Mario World. So I, for one, am happy to have Nintendo finally continue the series.

I believe there is room for both the 2D platforming and the 3D exploring series'. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple as that. And clearly it takes more time for Nintendo to make a 3D Mario game than a 2D platformer, so at least we have some Super Mario action to hold us over. Would you rather we didn't get ANY Super Mario game on the Wii U until the 3D game was released?

Iwata said there will only be one NSMB per device, we won't have another one for 5 or 6 years. I hope Nintendo will support this with DLC so I can keep coming back for years to come. I love (N)SMB, if I could only get one game with the WiiU, this would be it.

@Ryno, before March 31, 2013.

But anyway, this looks like a very nice change from the other NSMB games while still retaining the familiar formula. Really loving the giant world!

Looks nice. I'm pretty excited for this game, I'll be getting it with my Wii U!

This is shaping up to be exactly what we need from the New Super Mario Bros. series.
It seems to be different enough to actually have me pretty excited for it, so I hope it lives up to expectation.

That box art is nice too!

Nintendo has said the older Mario developers would be working on NSMBU and the younger less experienced team developed the NSMB2.
