But why do you put Star Fox in the thread title? MK8 has sold about as much as all Star Fox games total for all platforms. Splatoon has sold much more than any single Star Fox release. Nothing really changes with a Star Fox release date. The Wii U library is large enough by now to be a "system seller". Or not.

Lol, Yoshi's Cotton Cosmos isn't even out in NA yet!?! This year is so ridiculously borked for Nintendo; which is amazing considering how well it started out and seemed initially.

So, please tell me, how did the year started out...? OTOH, if you haven't paying attention to even know the reason for the Yoshi delay in NA, don't bother.

Here's a question, how many of the big holiday titles have been delayed so far? On any system. I don't keep up with what Sony or Microsoft are doing too much because I don't own either platform. But as a PC gamer and someone who also generally listens to gaming news? The only platform that's getting a fair amount of decent new games for the holidays is the XBOne. Nintendo isn't the only one pushing games back.

And frankly given how big Zelda looked and how unfinished Starfox looked? I don't mind at all that they're being pushed back. I'd much rather a finished game than something that was released before it was ready. Plus in the US you still have Yoshi's Woolly World to wait for. It's been out here for months, no idea why it's not out in the US yet. As someone who has played it? I played a few worlds before going back to my Splatoon. It's pretty solid, definitely something worth getting.

Sony and Microsoft delayed Uncharted 4 and Quantum Break(respectively) to 2016. I'm not big into the Uncharted series myself, but by looking at critic reviews, it's a big series for Sony. So yeah, Nintendo isn't the only one delaying games.

I'm kinda bummed to wait for Zelda and Star Fox, but both delays are for the better and I have PLENTY to play on both 3DS and Wii U alone in the meantime.

The Yoshi's Titillating Textiles delay is just a bizarre marketing move only for NA. Implying that having Yoshi's Frisky Fleece release in October is totally imperative... but only in NA. All the reviews are even out already so that game will have the release presence of one of those trees that falls in the woods in a pseudo-philosophical metaphor.

Anyway the year started out with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and the second coming of Majora's Mask, but then Zelda got delayed and Mario Party 10 was offered as a very in-poor-taste apology. Then people liked Splatoon. Then Nintendo had an E3 that was received negatively, sans kool aid—I think there was a Kirby game at one point—THEN the freakin' president of the company and a generally beloved figure died from long-running medical issues. Then IT'SA ME; 'if we had so few games to release this year then why did we pick the one release date you can't even say normally in american english—io,' then Star Fox, the highlight of their June lowlight, got pushed, then now.

So yeah; pretty bad year as billion-dollar entertainment giants go.

At least they're not waiting for Poor-Man's Indiana Jones or discount Metroid Prime. And as much as you may whine I am personally enjoying my Dreamcast 2.0 so screw your cynicism. Team Fortress: Paint Edition and Little Big Planet without broken physics are more than enough to turn me into a small person again. It may not have won over the pixel inspectors and faux-analysts but it definitely deserves its place next to the other two toys in that category

Star Fox isn't gonna sell consoles anyway. Just look at how many pages the forum topic has compared to Xenoblade and Zelda.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

WiiWareWave

Xenoblade Chronicles X will move more consoles than people are suggesting since it's the first major JRPG for the console, sure it won't boost sales by a huge amount, but I could see the game giving the Wii U a 10,000 - 20,000 sales boost in NA and EU on the week it launches.

Are there any heavy hitters that could move systems? I only see Xenoblade and Yoshi Wolly World. I am sure these games will sell very well to existing U owners but i don't see this moving a significant number of units this upcoming holiday season. Thoughts?

Honestly why do you care if they move systems? Are you a stock holder or something?

Unless you are then it shouldn't really matter, your life isn't impacted on whether or not Nintendo moves Wii Us.

I'll just stop buying Nintendo games until they can get their stuff together.

This late into the game, nothing is going to sell consoles. If Smash, 3D world, Splatoon, MK 8, and Mario Maker haven't enticed people to buy the console, nothing coming out for the next year will. Zelda maybe.. but yeah if you're a zelda fan, you probably already bough the console due to it being Nintendo.

@skywake: I am glad they are pushing back star fox. It is best that they get it right the first time( same with zelda). However i am deeply worried about this holiday season.

@Tasuki: Not a stock holder. I am a huge Nintendo fan and i would like them to have a respectable holiday season. I really hope there are some pleasant surprises this next direct.

Again I'm not sure where you get your info from, but... the first 2 Star Fox games alone sold over 7 million so MK8 has not outsold the entire series, and Splatoon isn't even half way to matching Star Fox 64's sales. It's also behind Star Fox and Star Fox Adventures.

SF is not a huge IP but it might have helped a lot more than Xenoblade and Fatal Frame.

Not gonna lie, Nintendo's holiday lineup is a joke this year.

Yeah, it's pretty sad. I'm fine with it bc as it is I have too many games to play. But I feel bad for Nintendo- it's going to be a fairly disappointing Christmas season for them.

The only holiday lineup that's actually good is the Xbox One's. The Wii U has an ok lineup while the PS4's is absolutely pitiful. The 3DS's holiday lineup is... eh. It's not as good as the Wii U's (note: I consider Super Mario Maker part of the lineup, same with Forza 6 for the XB1), but it's better than the PS4's.

Why? Regarding the Wii U, Nintendo has fulfilled the planned sales goals pretty well during last 1.5 years. During the past fiscal year, the only modification they made was that they increased the expected software units sold from 20M to 25M units.

Software-wise, the sales figures of Splatoon in Japan alone will probably cover the losses they made for not releasing Star Fox during the holidays. The Zelda U delay was known even before the fiscal year started, so that won't affect anything in any financial reports.

I just bought 5 games on the Wii U eShop... i had no idea their line-up was so terrible. What the heck did I spend my money on if the Wii U gots no games????

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
