Topic: Nintendo turned it's back on those that need Dance/Active Matt Support!!

I love the original Wii, and as a parent I really like the fact my son can play games that get him off the couch and sitting on his bum. We invested quite a bit in games that pushed the idea of activity. I have the DDR games, and spent quite a bit more to get a heavy duty and solid DDR platform. We purchased games like Outdoor Adventure that use it's own "Active Life" matt. When I first saw the Wii U information I was really excited...finally an upgrade to graphics and possibilities. Only to see it was going to be unable to use any of these accessories which are particularly what I sought out for my son as a parent. It seems to me what sets the Wii apart from systems like the PS4, and the Xbox One is it's active immersiveness ....even with the Kinect....which was another big step in getting the player moving on Xbox, the reality is the games are for older kids, and not as well suited as the Wii library for younger kids. When I first bought the Wii my son was not yet born, I bought some of these games in anticipation as he grew into them, and he loves them as a toddler. I really feel like Nintendo turned it's back on the entire philosophy the Wii brought to the table. I would love to purchase a Wii U...but until it comes out with one that uses the old adapters, or provides new ones for these games I see no point. It's sad to see I can't even get a new old Wii replacement that uses these....if Nintendo is going to turn it's back on those parents/consumers/kids that invested in it's philosophy. I as a parent and a consumer am going to turn my back on Nintendo, and just look for old systems. Really a shame, you had something that set you apart, and by your choices you have just made a system that is once again made for couch potatos, and without the horsepower of PS4 or Xbox one....so why bother? If tomorrow you released a more pricey Wii U that allowed for Gamecube/first gen Wii ports for the pads etc....I promise you it would fly off the shelves. Even potatos would likely get it to use the wavebird controllers etc.... So Why NOT? Why would you not make something that clearly has a demand? I want to support Wii and it's family focus....if only Nintendo felt the same about us. I guess i will just wait for my son to grow into the older games for Kinect....... If I want to sit on my Bum I have a gaming PC on our TV that puts ALL the consoles to shame anyway.
Sincerely an Ex Wii fan....that wishes they could be a fan again. -Fury

tl;dr

Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)

There is a GameCube Controller Adapter coming out soon. I'm not sure if that adds Active Matt support to Wii U, though.
Also, why does not supporting a third party accessory mean that they created a console "for couch potatoes"?

Dankey Kang goes fast.

Well you should not blame Nintendo or the Wii brand. The Pad technology is old and used much less frequently. Have u tried Wii Fit as the sequel to that is on the wii U and seems to be up your alley? The real problem why this type of game isnt being offered is because third parties arent supporting the wii u and the people that currently own the wii u dont want active games

The Wii U does have a few active games though and these are just off the top of my head:
Wii Fit U
Wii Sports Club (coming out soon)
Just Dance Series (pretty much modern DDR)

Exactly. Who wants to move when you could just sit still to play games?

Or instead of playing a game called Outdoor adventure go outside and have your own adventure.

Matt DLC coming to Wii U in 2016. Reggie's second cousin told me so.

Wii Sports Club is already available for digital download. And Wii U is the only console that allows you to use all of your old controllers. They technically gave Wii Fit U for free in December if you had a balance board, and they have had several trials for Sports Club (one is available right now) so it is not true they turned their back on you. You just need to research a bit more.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

I just hope the QOL strategy doesn't mean that Nintendo's goal in the next decade isn't to shift to a healthy life only company that focuses solely on titles like Brain Age and Wii Fit. -_-

Yes, the rest was not directed at you. Sorry for the confusion. And as @EdJericho illustrates, the QOL is also there.

it appears Matt is region locked to the n64 system only, Matt always had the worst luck

What happened to your Wii? Just play it on that and wait for the GCN adaptor, if you're still interested. The DDR pads and such are old as hell, and Wii was really the only console that supported them in the first place, after 6th gen. No one will be offended if you buy Xbox, which would technically be your next choice. Or you could just have both, so you can play Wii Sports U, Wii Fit U, and Kinect Sports.. I don't see what the problem is.
