Topic: Nintendo Movement by Shokio, what do you think?

Background: Shokio is kind of a Nintendo fan that has a reasonable amount of subscribers on youtube. Now he is planning a "Movement" to get ideas directly to Nintendo. The video below basically sums up the so called "movement".

So what do you guys think? Is this guy onto something or is he delusional? Is this "Movement" going to make a difference or is it another futile effort?

Personally, I think he is on the something. Nintendo actually read stuff on the Miiverse! If this "Movement" is as successful as he thinks it would be, we might be seeing stuff we actually want from Nintendo?

I'm disappointed that its come to this but at the same time something lie this is very much needed. The fact that we didnt get Earthbound last gen despite Ninty making record sales and revenue is so frustrating.
I just dont see how ppl just say we shouldnt get things like another installment of F-Zero and Starfox just because the last games didn't sell so well As if games like Sin and Punishment and TW101 weren't dead on arrival.

Posts like the one above me arent helping either.

True, but right now the problem is Nintendo is not listening at all....

What fans say won't matter.

If you want a say, buy Nintendo stock. That's why they're a public company.

Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

They listen to potential for sales not fan campaigns. You think they would have done Earthbound if they didn't expect it to sell like hotcakes? Nope, it's all to do with sales. Now a fan campaign can show what people are interested in and it might help in that regard. The problem is that they then have to trust that it's more than just people saying they want games.

Like the whine about DK:TF instead of Metroid Prime 4. The fact is that every single Metriod game, including Pinball and portable titles, combined since the NES has sold about 18mill. If you look at just the Metroid Prime series, including Hunters, then it's about 7mill combined. Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Wii sold 6mill by itself and the Donkey Kong Country series has sold about 30mill total with no side projects.

The reason they're going Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mario, Wii Fit/Sport/Party, Zelda and DK is because with only a few exceptions that's basically a list of the best selling Wii games. I'd love to see more of the 'lower tier' stuffs, we all would. The reason we're not is because they don't sell as well. No fan campaign will change that fact.

DK bombed in Japan and will more than likely see a similar fate in NA as well as EU. Those Wii Fit/Sports games bombed too.

But you can keep acting like they didnt to justify Nintendo's decisions if you want to.

thats the problem. nintendo is still living in a dreamworld that they can duplicate what the wii did. so far all attempts have failed. and for some reason they still keep trying wii tactics.

Dude it was the second top selling game across all platforms for the week with only 4 days of sales. The preorders alone in na are double the number of those sales. pttth

DK was second for sales with only 4 days recorded and second only to the new Dragon Quest on 3ds.

DK "bombed" based on what? A comparison of first week to DKCR which sold like crazy when when it launched in December late in the life of one of the best selling consoles ever? Sorry, I don't agree. I was simply saying that they make games based on what they have had success with, that's what every company is doing. They're not going to push games fans demand if when they last pushed them they didn't sell.

And hey, you know what? What are the best selling Wii U games so far? Wii Party U is high on that list along with New SMB and Zelda. Go to the 3DS list and again it's the same as it was last gen. Pokemans, Mario, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Nintendogs, Zelda. These games that have "bombed" on the Wii U are still pulling numbers that would be about on-par for a Metroid or Starfox game.

@CorporalPegasus

yes, yes he is.

just a nintendo gamer on a nintendo related site (who wouldve seen that one coming?)
the random user name randomly became a Pikachu.

@MAN1AC why should Nintendo bring back more franchises when its pretty much fact that nothing besides Mario, Zelda and smash sells on Nintendo systems. People wanted Nintendo to make a new franchise, they made W101 and it bombed. People wanted Nintendo to revive old IPs, they bring back Pikmin, it bombs, they bring back Kid Icarus, it barely crawls past a million sales (meanwhile the atrocity that is Sticker Star sold gangbusters). Also @skywake is right, the DK games have sold well while the Metroid games have been selling consistently worse, why in the world would Nintendo want to release a Metroid game over a DK game. The same can be said for Starfox and F Zero, both of those franchises have been selling worse with each new installment.
If anything it's the gamers fault for not supporting those franchises when they had the chance.

@Csaw
Actually Kid Icarus on 3DS did decently, not New SMB, Kart or Pokemans decent but still decent. It was about on par with Layton, the port of DKCR, Mario & Luigi and Fire Emblem. Things like Kart, Mario and Pokemon and orders of magnitude more so you can understand why that's their focus. So it's not that these games don't do ok.

........... it's just that when stuff needs to get moving they'll go for the sure thing first. Mario Kart and Smash move units, they always have. Even in the Gamecube era the people who did buy the console got it for Kart and Smash. Even on the Gamecube where it was almost purely just a "Nintendo fans" console because of average sales Metroid Prime 1 & 2 combined moved 3mill units while Smash and Kart did 7mill EACH.
