Still, compared to how Nintendo have been they could've taken a dump on stage and people would've praised it.

As long as they took the dump on the gamepad. Put it to use.

"ok fine then, but those games won't sell systems"

Regarding all platforms, there might be more games announced later at E3. I think the Nintendo main event was focused mainly on Wii U to get that platform a boost. Perhaps Sony used the same approach for PS4/Vita at the Sony conference?

There's definitely some more stuff coming. We know there is a 'big' 3DS game being announced today. Sony also have a ton of Vita stuff in their booth that was not in their event, and the new WWE game is getting revealed tomorrow morning. Quite excited about the 3DS game. I think it's going to either be Advanced Wars, Majora's Mask or Metroid.

Well they have a fair chunk of time to talk about it which makes me think Advance Wars. Then again if they want to talk about Zelda more generally they could do Majora's Mask and shoehorn in a discussion about the upcoming Wii U Zelda. Who knows. Could easily be something completely unexpected and/or something very unimpressive.

The same goes for Sony and Microsoft. They already have taken "dumps" on stage, just not this year.

Hey yo, Sony 2006 was the masterpiece of all time!

Exactly. Then there's always the "always online" and DRM policy of Microsoft. They ended up sweeping it up and came clean, so to speak.

That policy would have been great for me. (Presuming that the Family Sharing thing could have extended to 3 brothers all living in different locations).

No messing around with disks either. If that was still the policy I would have gone for it.

Well I thought that video was massive and the intro was amazing and funny. Just to be clear the first Nintendo console I ever bought was a Wii so I'm not a lifelong fan, but the sheer quality of craftsmanship they put into their games with the focus on accessibility and user experience in the core franchises has made me into a fan.

A lot of third party stuff is hit and miss; Nintendo just seems to really know what they're doing. It would have been nice if Mario Kart was a launch title, but taking the time to polish it was worth it - and who would have thought Mario Kart TV would be that much fun? Look at the level designs in the Wii U Mario games - this is not just rehashed stuff shoved out the door to placate fans (if they make identical games in a couple of years we can chat). I simply don't understand the vitriol against Nintendo any more than I understand people who hate Apple. Is it the fact that the companies are catering to a wider audience on delivering a positive experience? How is that bad; more importantly how does it affect people who don't want their products? Life is too short to be venting about something you don't care about...

well, there's no reason to believe Nintendo couldn't release the first Bayonetta on the eshop. Heck, they are separate games, therefore separate downloads. And, there's no reason to say that Nintendo couldn't do the same Mario Kart promotion for Bayonetta 2 and include a free download code for the first one. It's still early yet.

If anything, at least we are back to talking about games again instead of the "Wii U is doomed" and "ditch the GamePad" rubbish.

3. They only give you Bayonetta 1 if you buy retail (which is a great thing) but not if you buy digital (which I don't think is ok), at least that what the news said ^^
4. Yup, that was my point also.
5. Well Zelda ... we know basically nothing but judging from basically all and any previous Zelda games, Zelda is not gonna be able to fill the void, on purpose that is. I always hoped they would give a more Demon Soul-ish Zelda, maybe as a Spin-off, a change, some more like but still completely different than Twilight. But that new Zelda was still love on first sight pretty much ^^

Cooler heads should prevail, you are no doubt right about that. What you are saying is that in the end they would give you both games or something of equal worth in the end ? One has to wonder, if that is the case, why you wouldn't phrase your statemen thus.

As I mentioned in a similar post on another board, I've been pretty happy with my purchase- got it last year in April. I've had peaks and valleys with it- was very happy with it at purchase. Then enthusiasm died for a bit. Then interest picked back up with Pikmin, W101, then it subsided a bit until SM3dW. I've been able to fill the gap between DKTF and MK8 with some good indy games. It's a good time to own a Wii U and it will be a great time to own one in about a year.

I've got 30 retail games and 20 eShop games. While I might pick up some more here and there, I think I'll slow down on my hoarding. Main ones I want are Project Cars, Shinen's racing game, Smash Bros., Bayonetta, Sonic Boom, Star Fox and Hyrule Warriors.

It depnds, though. I knew exactly what Microoft was going to do with their DRM and always online, but there are aspects they would have been pouring money into that they prbably wouldn't be compensated for, and there would have been other things they didn't have control over. Most of the people who were against the policy didn't even understand what they were critisizing, which was what really made the reaction annoying/pointless.

There were still going to be used games, but you had to go to specific retail outlets. Once Xbxo One was almost out of its lifecycle, they probably would have lifted the used system, entirely, but who knows...? Some people were only looking at the used game policy keeping them fom trading?selling disc through anything other than GS or Game, but that is ultimately the better decision. If Microsoft were to follow through with an "always online" policy, they would HAVE to have some other alternative, such as 3G/4G adapters so you can still have online, but you might as well have wi-fi at that point. It's not like Microsoft was goin to pack in a 3G connection with every console, and if someone doesn't want to pay for that, then they shouldn't have to.

The point is that some people didn't understand what it was, but they did ultimately make the right decision.
